Charney Companies and Tavros Capital have closed on construction capitalization for 175 Third Street, the fifth and largest building in the Gowanus Wharf masterplan in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the 27-story structure will span approximately 1.1 million square feet and deliver nearly 1,100 residences, with 25 percent of the apartments designated as permanently affordable. The property is located between 3rd Avenue and the Gowanus Canal.

Construction has topped out on Majestic, a 10-story mixed-use residential building at 540 Degraw Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Developed by The Domain Companies and designed by Handel Architects, the project will yield 255 rental apartments, approximately 14,000 square feet of retail and office space, and 45 enclosed parking spaces. The development team includes GoodRich Design as interior designer and Future Green Studio as landscape architect. Majestic is targeting LEED Gold certification.

Excavation is progressing at 590 Union Street, the site of an eight-story mixed-use building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Designed by StudiosC Architecture and developed by Trifecta Equities, the 85-foot-tall structure will yield 24 rental units with an average scope of 588 square feet. The project will also include 12,121 square feet of commercial space and a rear yard. Permits were filed by the owner through Artem Korsun of R & O Engineering. The property is located between 3rd and 4th Avenues.quities, who purchased the property for $4.5 million, the structure will stand 85 feet tall and yield 14,100 square feet of residential space divided into 24 rental units, as well as 12,121 square feet of commercial space, and a rear yard. Permits were filed by the owner through their representative Artem Korsun of R & O Engineering. The site is located on an interior lot between 3rd and 4th Avenue.

Designed by Kao Hwa Lee Architects and developed by David Grunfeld of GW Infinity LLC, the 65-foot-tall structure will span 68,526 square feet and yield 99 rental units with an average scope of 692 square feet. The property is located between 3rd Avenue and the Gowanus Canal, adjacent to the two-tower 420 Carroll Street development.

Plans Approved for 1,000-Unit Development at 175 Third Street In Gowanus, Brooklyn

The New York City Planning Commission has approved plans for 175 Third Street, a mixed-use development in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Developed by Charney Companies and Tavros with design by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with dencityworks | architecture, the 27-story building is expected to span over 1 million square feet and yield more than 1,000 units, approximately 250 of which will be designated as affordable housing. The nearly $1 billion project is part of the broader redevelopment of the neighborhood following the 2021 rezoning. The property is bounded by 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 3rd Avenue, and the Gowanus Canal.
