The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has launched the public review process for a proposed 38-story mixed-use building at the southeast corner of East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed under the high-density zoning regulations established by Mayor Eric Adams’ “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity” initiative, the project will rise above the planned Second Avenue Subway extension station. If approved, it will yield approximately 680 new residential units, over 150 of which will be permanently affordable.
Work has begun on a 19-story all-affordable housing complex at 1760 Third Avenue in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by Breaking Ground, New York’s largest non-profit supportive housing developer, the project involves the conversion of a former dormitory for Hunter College and Baruch College into housing for low-income and formerly homeless individuals with 434 units. The property is located between East 97th and East 98th Streets.
Timbale Terrace, an affordable housing development in East Harlem, Manhattan, has received final approval and will now advance to construction financing. The project is a partnership among Mega Group Development, the Lantern Organization, and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, and will be built on an underutilized City-owned parking lot on Park Avenue between 118th and 119th Streets.
