Eight-Building Rockaway Village Complex Completes Construction in Far Rockaway, Queens

Construction is complete on Rockaway Village, an eight-building mixed-use complex in Far Rockaway, Queens. Designed by Marvel and developed by Phipps, the project was constructed in five phases and yields a total of 1,700 affordable homes along with 125,000 square feet of commercial and community facility space. The masterplan also features a supermarket, pharmacy, coffee shop, and more than 550 parking spaces, all connected by landscaped public plazas. The development is bounded by Nameoke Avenue to the north, Mott Avenue to the south, Central Avenue to the east, and Redfern Avenue to the west.

Robert C. Wood Apartments Reaches Completion In Far Rockaway, Queens

Construction is complete on Robert C. Wood Apartments, an eight-story affordable and supportive housing development at 18‑26 Redfern Avenue in Far Rockaway, Queens. Designed by UAI and developed by Camber Property Group, Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC), and the NYC Department of Social Services (DSS), the $100 million project yields 147 permanently affordable apartments and a 100-bed women’s shelter known as the Wanda Patterson Women’s Residence. The property is located between Dix and Mott Avenues.

Tishman Speyer’s affordable housing platform, TS Communities, is set to begin construction this month on Edgemere Commons A2, a 100-percent affordable residential building at 337 Beach 52nd Street in Far Rockaway, Queens. The 18-story project will deliver 244 income-restricted apartments and ground-floor retail space, marking the second building in the Edgemere Commons master plan to be developed by TS Communities. Designed by Aufgang Architects, this project will complete the first full block of the broader redevelopment effort.

Work is nearing completion on 35-01 Beach Channel Drive, an eight-story residential building in Far Rockaway, Queens. Designed by Bernheimer Architecture and developed by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the 83-foot-tall structure will span 137,342 square feet and yield 138 rental units with an average scope of 707 square feet, as well as 5,173 square feet of commercial space, a 52-foot-long rear yard, and 15 enclosed parking spaces. Twenty percent of the units will be designated as affordable housing. The property is bound by Beach Channel Drive, Beach 36th Street, Rockaway Freeway, and Beach 35th Street.

The property is located on an interior lot between Beach Channel Drive and Redfern Avenue.
