Modernization Plans Revealed for Manhattan Cruise Terminal in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has released a comprehensive master plan to modernize the Manhattan Cruise Terminal (MCT) in Hell’s Kitchen. Led by NYCEDC, maritime design firm Bermello Ajamil, and engineering consultants Hatch, the project will replace 90-year-old infrastructure, expand berthing capacity, and integrate sustainable energy systems. The initiative follows a year-long community engagement process and aims to enhance public access, reduce emissions, and support long-term growth in the city’s cruise and freight sectors.

LPC to Review Restoration Proposal For Macomb’s Dam Bridge

The New York City Department of Transportation has submitted a proposal to the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) for a new protective coating for the historic Macomb’s Dam Bridge, which spans the Harlem River between Manhattan and The Bronx. The project team seeks to address paint deterioration and rust on the 1895 swing bridge, a designated New York City landmark, through a full repainting in a historically accurate color.

LPC to Review Grand Army Plaza Lighting Upgrade in Midtown, Manhattan

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Central Park Conservancy (CPC) have proposed a new lighting infrastructure upgrade for Grand Army Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. The project, which will be reviewed on Tuesday by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, aims to enhance illumination throughout both the north and south portions of the plaza, including the General Sherman Monument and the Pulitzer Fountain.

Renderings Revealed for 18W55 at 18 West 55th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

New renderings have been revealed for 18W55, a 26-story residential building nearing completion at 18 West 55th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed and built by Skyline Developers, the 289-foot-tall structure will span 152,084 square feet and yield 97 rental units in studio- to three-bedroom layouts with an average scope of 1,319 square feet. The project will also include 6,380 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 10,343-square-foot cellar level. The property is located on a formerly vacant interior lot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

One High Line’s Public Park Opens at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is complete on the new landscaped public plaza at One High Line, a two-tower residential development at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. The park sits to the east of the twisting 36- and 26-story structures and was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Field Operations in a private-public partnership between the City of New York and Friends of the High Line. Suffolk Construction was the general contractor.  The towers, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group for Witkoff Group and Access Industries, are also complete and span around 900,000 square feet with 236 condominium units in one- to five-bedroom layouts. The property also includes a Faena Hotel. The development is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and straddles the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bounded by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.
