18 West 55th Street’s Façade Continues to Progress in Midtown, Manhattan

PG New York is continuing its façade work on 18 West 55th Street, a 26-story residential building in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed and built by Skyline Developers, which purchased the property for $83 million in 2017 under the 18 West 55th Street LLC, the 289-foot-tall structure will span 152,084 square feet and yield 97 rental units with an average scope of 1,319 square feet, as well as 6,380 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 10,343-square-foot cellar level. Two-Skyscraper Proposal Revealed For 629 West 54th Street, 801 Eleventh Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Proposals have been revealed for a pair of mixed-use skyscrapers at 629 West 54th Street and 801 Eleventh Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by The Chapman Group and Friedland Properties, the project consists of a 42-story tower standing 565 feet tall at 629 West 54th Street and a 38-story, 525-foot-tall tower at 801 Eleventh Avenue. The former will yield 617 rental units, with 154 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 84,359 square feet of commercial space, while the latter will house 447 rental units, with 119 slated for affordable housing, and 64,392 square feet of commercial space. The skyscrapers will rise from opposite corners of two separate city blocks bound by West 55th Street to the north, West 54th Street to the south, Eleventh Avenue to the east, and Twelfth Avenue to the west.

A new video by construction company Tutor Perini offers the first glimpses of the Manhattan Detention Center, a proposed 16-story jail at 124-125 White Street in Chinatown, Manhattan. Led by design-build organization Gramercy Group Inc., the $3.8 billion project will stand 295 feet tall on the site of the now-demolished Manhattan Detention Complex (MDC) infamously known as “The Tombs,” and will span 1.25 million square feet. The property is bound by Walker Street to the north, the Manhattan Criminal Court Building to the south, Baxter Street to the east, and Centre Street to the west.
