Façade work is getting closer to completion on Rose Hill, a 639-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad and number 23 on YIMBY’s 2020 construction countdown. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by Rockefeller Group, the 45-story reinforced concrete superstructure will yield 123 condominiums marketed by CORE Real Estate. The earth-tone envelope features a number of Art Deco-inspired motifs and architectural forms that aim to both blend with the Manhattan skyline while distinguishing it from other new nearby developments in the neighborhood. Sales have already launched for the homes ranging from one- to four-bedroom units and start at $1.385 million.

Façade Work on Bjarke Ingels’ The XI Temporarily On Hold in Chelsea

YIMBY’s Turkey Week update of stalled projects continues with The XI, a twisting pair of 26- and 36-story residential structures at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by HFZ Capital Group, façade installation work appears to be on hold for the moment at the site, which is located on the western side of the High Line. Among the tallest buildings to rise along the Hudson River, the 908,250-square-foot two-tower design will yield 236 condominiums and a 137-room Six Senses Hotel Resort Spa, the brand’s first location in the United States. YIMBY last reported that Omnibuild is in charge of the construction and Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing.

90 Morton Street Opens for Occupancy in the West Village

Construction has reached full completion at 90 Morton Street, a 12-story condominium building in the West Village. Designed by Asaf Gottesman of Gottesman-Szmelcman Architecture and developed by Brack Capital Real Estate, the 150-foot-tall project involved a rooftop addition on an eight-story industrial building that once housed a printing warehouse. The structure yields 122,000 square feet with interior design by Marc Turkel of Leroy Street Studio. Reuveni Real Estate is leading sales and marketing of the 35 units, which hit the market in April 2018 with prices starting at $5.3 million.

YIMBY’s Q3 2020 Report Shows 5,638 New Residential Units Filed from July through September

During the third quarter of 2020, spanning the period from July through September, developers expressed confidence in the city’s long-term economic future, as evidenced by the 446 building permits filed during the period, nearly matching the 476 filings in the second quarter. Between these applications, which cover all types of projects, the new residential buildings permitted totaled 5,638 units, a decrease from 9,309 the previous quarter, and a drop from 8,063 units submitted in Q3 of 2019. Despite the drop in residential units entering the pipeline for the Five Boroughs, overall permitting activity remains relatively vigorous, and all filings are available in Excel format at the following link.

Madison House Nears Completion at 126 Madison Avenue in NoMad

Exterior work is still wrapping up on Madison House, NoMad’s tallest residential skyscraper at 126 Madison Avenue. Alternately addressed as 15 East 30th Street, the 805-foot-tall, 62-story tower is designed by Handel Architects and developed by Fosun Group and JD Carlisle. Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing of its 199 condominiums. The project also includes 7,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
