Construction has begun on Arverne East Building D, a ten-story residential building in the first phase of the 116-acre Arverne East oceanfront master plan at 116 Beach 36th Street in Edgemere, Queens. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by L+M Development Partners, Triangle Equities, The Bluestone Organization, Mega Development, and Urbane Development, the 355,000-square-foot structure will yield 318 apartments. Of these, 229 will be rental apartments and the remaining 89 will be cooperative homeownership units. The New York City Planning Commission has approved plans for 175 Third Street, a mixed-use development in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Developed by Charney Companies and Tavros with design by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with dencityworks | architecture, the 27-story building is expected to span over 1 million square feet and yield more than 1,000 units, approximately 250 of which will be designated as affordable housing. The nearly $1 billion project is part of the broader redevelopment of the neighborhood following the 2021 rezoning. The property is bounded by 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 3rd Avenue, and the Gowanus Canal.
