New York City has unveiled two design concepts to redesign Park Avenue between East 46th Street and East 57th Street in Midtown East, Manhattan. Led by NYC DOT in coordination with the MTA, the proposal would expand the avenue’s medians, add pedestrian space, seating, landscaping, and potential bike infrastructure along the 11-block corridor.
Construction has begun on 570 Eldert Lane, a seven-story affordable housing development in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn. Designed by Think! Architecture + Design and developed by Slate Property Group and Thorobird Companies in partnership with Bangladeshi American Community Development & Youth Services (BACDYS) and Goldman Sachs, the structure will deliver 213 affordable residential units alongside community-focused programming. The city-owned through-block property is located between Glenmore and Pitkin Avenues.
Construction has begun on Arverne East Building D, a ten-story residential building in the first phase of the 116-acre Arverne East oceanfront master plan at 116 Beach 36th Street in Edgemere, Queens. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by L+M Development Partners, Triangle Equities, The Bluestone Organization, Mega Development, and Urbane Development, the 355,000-square-foot structure will yield 318 apartments. Of these, 229 will be rental apartments and the remaining 89 will be cooperative homeownership units. The property is bounded by Edgemere Avenue to the north, Beach 36th Street to the east, and Beach 37th Street to the west.
Renderings have been revealed for 625 Madison Avenue, a proposed 52-story skyscraper in Midtown East, Manhattan. Developed by Related Companies in partnership with Andrew Mathias and designed by Foster + Partners and Gensler, the structure is planned to yield 840,000 square feet of office space between the Plaza District office core and Billionaires’ Row residential corridor. The property is located between East 58th and 59th Streets.
The New York City Planning Commission has approved plans for 175 Third Street, a mixed-use development in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Developed by Charney Companies and Tavros with design by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in collaboration with dencityworks | architecture, the 27-story building is expected to span over 1 million square feet and yield more than 1,000 units, approximately 250 of which will be designated as affordable housing. The nearly $1 billion project is part of the broader redevelopment of the neighborhood following the 2021 rezoning. The property is bounded by 2nd Street, 3rd Street, 3rd Avenue, and the Gowanus Canal.
