Hotel Meta’s Façade Nears Completion at 450 Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

The 12th-tallest building on our annual construction countdown is Hotel Meta, a 642-foot-tall hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards. Designed by Moshe Tzur Architects and DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 51-story structure will yield 379 guest rooms and amenities including a business center, a ballroom, banquet and conference spaces, a spa, fitness center, and a multi-level restaurant with a bar and outdoor terrace. The property will be operated by Marriott Hotels and is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

The Vessel Reopens Following Safety Modifications in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

The Vessel has officially reopened to the public in Hudson Yards, Manhattan following the completion of safety modifications to the beleaguered attraction. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio and developed by Related Companies, the 15-story honeycomb of staircases stands 150 feet tall as the centerpiece of the first phase of Hudson Yards, and originally opened along with the complex in March 2019. However, access to the attraction was shuttered in July 2021 following a string of suicides from its elevated platforms. Earlier this year, work began on a safety system consisting of steel mesh netting stretched between the openings in the structure, and the revamped attraction is now back to operation.

New Renderings Showcase Related Companies and Wynn Resorts’ Master Plan for Phase Two of Hudson Yards

New renderings have been revealed for Related Companies and Wynn Resorts’ $12 billion mixed-use gaming complex proposal for the second phase of Hudson Yards. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the complex would consist of multiple skyscrapers housing 1,500 apartments, 2 million square feet of office space, a public grade school, a 5.6-acre park called Hudson Green designed by Hollander Design and Sasaki, and a daycare center. The new batch of towers would rise directly west of the first phase of Hudson Yards over the 13-acre Western Rail Yards bound by West 33rd Street to the north, West 30th Street to the south, Eleventh Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.

Safety Netting Assembly Progresses On Thomas Heatherwick’s ‘Vessel’ Sculpture in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Remediation work is taking shape across the exterior of The Vessel in Hudson Yards, Manhattan, where netting is being installed for visitor safety. Designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio and developed by Related Companies, the 15-story, 150-foot-tall attraction opened in March 2019 but was shuttered in July 2021 after four guests leapt to their deaths from the platforms of the honeycomb-shaped structure. The safety system will incorporate steel mesh netting stretched from metal supports to close the gaps between its network of interconnecting staircases.
