The Shubert Organization has partnered with Berg + Moss Architects to design and construct a 49-story hotel adjacent to the historic Cort Theatre at 138 West 48th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Proposed actions also include rehabilitation of the theatre and the construction of a five-story annex that would contain a portion of the new hotel component and back-of-house theatre spaces.
Foundation work is progressing on the 200-key Marriott SpringHill at 223 West 46th Street in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by McSam Hotel Group, the project is planned to rise “at least 26 stories,” according to the design team. The main rendering depicts a tower of 34 stories.
Curtain wall installation is getting closer to completion on the Margaritaville Resort at 560 Seventh Avenue in Times Square. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Sharif El-Gamal of Soho Properties along with MHP Real Estate Services, the nearly $300 million project stands topped out at 29 stories on the corner of Seventh avenue and West 40th Street. The property will contain a total of 234 hotel rooms.
Construction on the Hard Rock Hotel has made a good amount of progress since YIMBY’s last update in January. Located at 159 West 48th Street in Times Square between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, the 225,000-square-foot, 442-foot high, 445-room hotel is designed by Berg + Moss Architects and is being developed by Extell and Hard Rock International.
Curtain wall installation is progressing at 145 West 47th Street as the reinforced concrete superstructure rises in Times Square. Designed by Berg + Moss Architects and developed by Tribeach Holdings, the 48-story building will span 141,500 square feet and house a 630-room RIU Hotel.
