Construction at 317-319 West 35th Street Goes Vertical in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising at 317-319 West 35th Street, a 25-story hotel in Midtown’s Garment District. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 249-foot-tall reinforced concrete structure was last reported to span 59,250 square feet with 166 hotel rooms. The property will also contain 3,399 square feet of commercial space and feature a cellar, sub-cellar, and a basement. Crosscity Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the development, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Resolution Real Estate has completed a major renovation of the historic McGraw-Hill Publishing Company Building at 330 West 42nd Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by American architect Raymond Hood, the 35-story building was originally constructed in 1931 and is considered a standout example of Art Deco design.

255 West 34th Street’s Superstructure Rises in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 255 West 34th Street, a 33-story hotel tower in Midtown. Designed by Stonehill Taylor Architects and developed by The Chetrit Group, the 155,594-square-foot development will yield 330 hotel rooms directly across from One Penn Plaza, on the southern edge of the Garment District between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. Flintlock Construction Services, LLC is the general contractor for the project.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved proposals to renovate and redevelop a portion of the McGraw-Hill Publishing Company Building. Located in the Garment District at 330 West 42nd Street, the property was originally constructed in 1931 and is considered a landmarked example of Art Deco design in the built environment.

Demolition preparations are underway at 317-319 West 35th Street in Midtown’s Garment District, where a 25-story hotel is planned to rise. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 249-foot-tall structure will span 59,250 square feet with 166 hotel rooms. The property will also contain 3,399 square feet of commercial space. The permits, which were filed earlier this year, indicate that there will be a cellar, sub-cellar, and basement.

Macy’s Inc. is pursuing plans to build an office tower over its block-long flagship store in Herald Square, Midtown. Proposals include upward of one million square feet of office space, a sky lobby with views of the city, and public improvements to the surrounding open spaces and subway stations. Today, YIMBY has the reveal for the tower, which was posted by forum users after being spotted within a Macy’s release this week, which showcase the skyscraper as it would stand atop the iconic Midtown retailer.

Designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture for The Expansion Group, the renovation is specifically intended to attract tenants from the technology sector. The 21-story pre-war building is located on the southeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 38th Street and contains approximately 325,000 square feet of commercial area.
