NYC Unveils Plans For Grand Army Plaza Redesign In Park Slope, Brooklyn

The City has unveiled plans to improve the traffic and pedestrian flow through Grand Army Plaza in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Unveiled by Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn, the proposal will revise the traffic-heavy circle at Prospect Park’s northern entrance as a larger public space with safer pedestrian and bicycle connections between the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch and the park. According to the city, the plan also aims to simplify movement through the plaza and improve bus operations along the B41 and B6 corridors, which together carry tens of thousands of daily riders.

The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is set to review a proposal for modifications to 186 8th Avenue, a three-story, two-unit townhome in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The proposal seeks approval for modifications to the building’s rear façade, including a two-story full-width extension and updates to materials and fenestration. The property is located between Garfield Place and 1st Street.

LPC To Review Proposal For New Townhouse At 28 7th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn

The proposal for the currently vacant lot was assembled by Building Studio Architects. If approved, the property will stand four stories tall and yield four residential units across a total of approximately 5,700 square feet.

Developed by Urban Development Partners, the structure is planned to yield 133 rental units with an affordable housing component, as well as ground-floor retail space. Naftali Credit Partners provided the loan for the property, which is located between Douglass and Degraw Streets.
