Three-Story Building At 222 East 13th Street Being Turned Into Supportive Housing, East Village

At 222 East 13th Street, in the East Village, a dilapidated & vacant four-story townhouse has begun its conversion into Bea Arthur Residence, a 18-bed supportive housing facility for homeless LGBT youth, according to EV Grieve. NYC HPD owns the property, which has gotten ULURP approvals, and opening is expected in 2016. The building will expand by 6,030 square feet, according to the DOB, and Magnusson Architecture & Planning is designing.


215 Chrystie Street

28-Story Mixed-Use Project Now Five Stories Up At 215 Chrystie Street, Lower East Side

The planned 28-story, 370-key hotel & 11-unit condo tower at 215 Chrystie Street has risen quickly this summer, and now stands five stories tall, per the latest photo from Tectonic. Located on the Lower East Side, Herzog & de Meuron designed the building, which is being developed by Ian Schrager and Witkoff. Curbed also reported on the project’s progress yesterday, and completion is currently expected in 2016.


232 Seventh Avenue

Excavation Begins At 232 7th Avenue, Site Of 17-Story, 50-Unit Building, Chelsea

Early in 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of the planned 17-story, 50-unit mixed-use building at 232 Seventh Avenue, in eastern Chelsea, and now YIMBY can report excavation has commenced at the site. The building will measure 42,325 square feet, which includes 2,425 square feet of retail on the ground floor, and C3D Architecture is designing. Chelsea 7 JV LLC is the developer, and the project’s completion is most likely towards the end of 2016 or early 2017.


70 West 93rd Street

Retail Expansion Planned For 30 Story Residential Tower At 70 West 93rd Street, Upper West Side

Stellar Management is seeking city approval to add 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail to the base of their 30-story, 200-unit residential building at 70 West 93rd Street, on the Upper West Side, according to DNAinfo. The expansion would include five retail units and a reconfigured lobby. The area around the building is currently a concrete plaza, and approval from City Planning is required. Richard Metsky is one of the designers.


225 East 126th Street

Site Acquired For Proton Beam Therapy Center At 225 East 126th Street, East Harlem

Last Fall, YIMBY revealed renderings of the three-story, 115,000 square-foot proton beam therapy center being developed by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Mount Sinai Hospital and ProHEALTH at 225 East 126th Street, in East Harlem. Now, Commercial Observer reports the site has finally traded hands for $26 million. Construction is expected to begin this Summer for a Spring 2018 completion. VOA Associates is designing.
