Proposed Expansion for Landmarked 827-831 Broadway Heads to the LPC, Union Square

Just South of Union Square, on Broadway between East 12th and East 13th Streets, there are two Italianate-inspired buildings from 1866 and 1867, at 827-831 Broadway. Back in 2015, the sites had been purchased for $60 million by the real estate investors Samson Klugman of Quality Capital, and Leo Tsimmer of Caerus Group. They had initially filed permits for a 300-foot-tall commercial space, but that was stopped when the Landmarks Preservation Commission awarded landmark status for the 150-year old construction.

Permits Filed for 201 East 125th Street, East Harlem

Permits have been filed for a 19-story mixed-use high-rise at 201 East 125^th Street, in East Harlem. The sizable development will rise one block away from the 125^th Street Subway Station, serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. The Harlem-125^th Street Station for the Metro-North trains is one block further. The Richman Group will be responsible for development.

Permits Filed for New Office Tower at 710 3rd Avenue, Midtown East, Manhattan

Permits have been filed by an anonymous LLC for a 17-story office building at 710 3^rd Avenue, on the corner of 45th Street and 3rd Avenue, in Midtown East, Manhattan. The development will stand four blocks away from the main entrance to Grand Central Train Station, serviced by the 4, 5, 6, 7, and Shuttle trains, along with all lines on the Metro-North railroad.

Renderings Revealed for The Irish Arts Center at 726 11th Avenue, Hell’s Kitchen

Earlier this week we reported on demolition filings to make way for construction of the new Irish Arts Center. The permits were to clear away most of 726 11th Avenue to expand the center’s footing in Hell’s Kitchen. Now, YIMBY has the reveal for new renderings of how the IAC will look from 11th Avenue, with an apparent 40% decrease in square footage.

Permits Filed for 123 West 106th Street, Upper West Side

Permits have been filed for an 11-story mid-rise residential building at 123 West 106^th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The project is situated three blocks from Central Park, and seven blocks from the famously massive yet unfinished Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. The 1 train and the A, B, and C trains are all a few blocks away. CoSo Apartments will be responsible for the development.

Renderings Revealed for Cort Theater Expansion at 138 West 48th Street, Times Square

Today, YIMBY has a look at plans for the restoration and expansion of Cort Theater, at 138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The building is in the heart of the Times Square Theater District, and was designed by Thomas W. Lamb, first opening its doors back in 1912.

Permits Filed for 26 West 127th Street, Harlem, Manhattan

An anonymous LLC has filed permits for a six-story residential building at 26 West 127^th Street, in Harlem. The development will rise three blocks from the 125^th Street Subway Station, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains. Metro North’s 125^th Street Harlem station is also five blocks away.

Permits Filed For 157 West 24th Street, Chelsea

Permits have been filed for a 19-story hotel to be built at 157 West 24^th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenue, in Chelsea. The site is less than a block from a Whole Foods grocery store and has easy access to subway stations along 23rd Street, including the F and M trains on Sixth Avenue, the 1 and 2 trains on Seventh Avenue, and on Eighth Avenue, the C and E trains. Jin Sup An’s 157 West 24^th Street Lodging LLC will be responsible for development.

Permits Filed For 25-Story & 168-Room Hotel at 842 Sixth Avenue, Midtown

Filings have been submitted for a 25-story hotel at 842 6^th Avenue, in Midtown Manhattan, between 29^th Street and 30^th Street. Demolition permits have already been pulled for the existing seven-story building. The site is just a few blocks away from the Empire State Building, Penn Station, and Madison Square Park, and sits within the burgeoning Midtown South hotel corridor.

Construction Nearly Complete for 207 West 79th Street, Upper West Side

YIMBY has an update on construction for 207 West 79th Street, a 13-story residential building on the Upper West Side. Our last report on the site’s progress in September of 2016 showed construction had just reached the seventh floor, with no façade installation underway. The site is just an Avenue away from the American Natural History Museum, and two Avenues away from Central Park. There is close access to the 1, 2, A, B, and C trains by foot.
