Foundation Work Underway At 55 Hudson Yards, Midtown West

YIMBY first revealed Related’s 51-story, 1.3-million square-foot office building dubbed 55 Hudson Yards in May of 2014, and then we brought you an excavation update earlier this spring. Today, per Curbed, foundation work is well underway. Kohn Pedersen Fox is designing, and completion is expected in 2017. Oxford Properties Group is co-developing, and Mitsui Fudosan also owns a 92.09 percent stake in the project.


222 East 46th Street

Development Site At 222 East 46th Street Placed On The Market, Midtown East

The Dupler Group is putting the land under a five-story office building at 222-226 East 46th Street, in Midtown East, on the market as a 99-year lease; the property is being valued at around $30 million. The site contains 72,000 square feet of development rights, and a developer could demolished the existing structure for a 33-story residential tower with as many as 96 rental units. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank is marketing the property, per The Real Deal.


551 10th Avenue

52-Story, 600-Unit Residential Tower At 551 10th Avenue Gets Glassy, Midtown West

YIMBY last reported on Extell Development’s 52-story, 600-unit mixed-use building at 551 Tenth Avenue, in Midtown West, back in October of 2014, and now Curbed has the latest photos of the project, courtesy of Tectonic. The structure has risen significantly since last fall, and glass is now wrapping around on all sides. Twenty percent of the rental units will be leased at below-market rates, and a 300-bed dormitory will be housed in the building’s base. SLCE Architects is designing, and completion is expected in the summer of 2016.


1538 2nd Avenue

Icon Realty Planning Mixed-Use Building At 1538 2nd Avenue, Upper East Side

Last year, YIMBY brought you news of Icon Realty’s planned 14-story, 12-unit mixed-use building at 1562 2nd Avenue, on the Upper East Side, and now the developer is planning another luxury residential and retail building at 1538-1546 2nd Avenue, a block to the south, between 80th and 81st Streets. According to the New York Post, demolition is underway to remove existing tenement buildings. Although applications are not on file for 1538 2nd Avenue, construction is expected to start in early 2016, or around the same time as their project at 1562 2nd Avenue.


100 University Place

Drawings Posted For 23-Story Mixed-Use Project At 100 University Place, Greenwich Village

Nearly a year ago, YIMBY brought you news of Macklowe’s 23-story, 52-unit mixed-use building planned at 100 University Place, in Greenwich Village, and now schematic diagrams have surfaced of the building’s form, per Curbed. The 107,965 square-foot building will have 13,075 and 1,050 square feet of commercial and community space, respectively, spanning the ground floor. Condos will average 2,076 square feet each. SLCE Architects is serving as the architect of record, and the existing four-story building is getting prepped for demolition.
