A new design has been revealed for a six-story residential building at 110 West 123^rd Street, in Harlem‘s Mount Morris Park Historic District, which is heading to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for review later today. The site is two blocks away from the 125^th Street Subway Station on Malcolm X Boulevard, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains. Four blocks further is the Harlem 125^th Street Train Station, serviced by Metro-North. Daniel Kimya is the owner, with Big Apple Developers responsible for the project.

Tower Crane Comes Down From One Manhattan Square As Exterior Work Nears Completion

Construction on the Lower East Side’s first legitimate skyscraper continues apace. When YIMBY last looked at 252 South Street, i.e. One Manhattan Square, the superstructure had reached its 80^th floor, with topping-out officially occurring last September. Now, only a dozen floors of cladding remain before its exterior is complete. Extell Development is responsible for development, with Lendlease responsible for construction.

Façade Installation Nearly Complete for 196 Orchard Street, Lower East Side, Manhattan

Construction at 196 Orchard Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan has reached a new milestone, with the installation of the building’s glazed-brick façade nearing completion. The 11-story residential building stands above Houston Street, beside Katz Delicatessen. It reaches a height of 120 feet, thanks to the purchase of air rights from the deli.

Demolition Begins For Final Piece of Extell’s 775-Foot-Tall 50 West 66th Street on the Upper West Side

One of the more interesting new designs coming to Manhattan will be at 50 West 66^th Street, where Extell will soon be adding yet another punctuation mark to the city’s skyline. The site is just six blocks away from Columbus Circle, and down the block from Central Park. The building was last on our radar in late 2017, with the news that the project would dramatically increase in size to become the tallest tower on the Upper West Side, taking away the title from 200 Amsterdam Avenue before it could even begin rising. Now, demolition has officially begun on the assemblage’s last structural occupant, while excavation continues apace across the land that has already been cleared.

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 1299 3^rd Avenue, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The site is three blocks away from the 77^th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 and 6 trains, and four blocks away from the 72^nd Street subway station, serviced by the Q train. Continental Ventures is responsible for the development.

Central Park Tower Stretches Toward Supertall Territory On Way to 1,550′ Pinnacle

After covering 220 Central Park South and 111 West 57^th Street, it’s time we cover the tallest of the three skyscrapers under construction on Midtown’s billionaire’s alley. 217 West 57^th Street is currently on track to reach 1,550 feet above the ground. Once complete, it will be the tallest residential skyscraper in the country and second tallest tower in the country. Extell Development is responsible for the project.

111 West 57th Street Officially Surpasses Halfway Point in Rise to 1,428′ Pinnacle

With each new day that passes, the view of Midtown from southern Central Park is looking more like the renderings from several years ago. Today, we have a look at 111 West 57th Street, which is on its way to becoming the third-tallest skyscraper in New York City, surpassed only by One World Trade Center and Central Park Tower. It’s been three and a half months since YIMBY last reported on the soon-to-be supertall’s progress from Midtown. In that time, the tower has seen an incredible growth spurt, and is now officially over halfway to its eventual 1,428-foot peak.

As the largest planned development in the United States inches closer to completion, The Shed at Hudson Yards has announced the first group of commissions to be on display during the 2019 inaugural season. The Shed will be New York City’s first and only arts center dedicated to commissioning, producing, and presenting new work across the performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture areas. The mixed-use space is expected to be open to the public sometime in the spring of 2019.
