Cladding Appears At 626 First Avenue, Twin-Towered Development Rising in Murray Hill

JDS Development’s 41- and 48-story residential towers planned at 626 First Avenue, on the East River in Murray Hill, are now rising quickly, per Curbed. Construction began nearly a year ago, and completion of the 800-rental-unit development is expected in 2017. SHoP Architects is designing, and façade installation has also begun closer to street level. A 38,000 square-foot park is planned to surround the base of the project.

Extell’s 250 South Street Will Total 68 Floors & 1.1 Million Square Feet

In May, YIMBY revealed partial renderings of Extell’s planned residential tower at 250 South Street, and at the time, DOB filings indicated it was to stand 56 stories, spanning 939,850 square feet. Now, according to DNAinfo, permits show a tower closer to the initially proposed building, standing 68 stories and 800 feet tall, and measuring 1,105,386 square feet. The project now includes 802 residential units, and 25,516 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.



493 11th Avenue

City To Request Proposals For All-Affordable Mixed-Use Tower At 493 11th Avenue, Midtown West

The City’s EDC has confirmed the redevelopment of the parking lot at 493 11th Avenue, on West 39th Street in Midtown West, according to DNAinfo. The City will request proposals this summer for a permanently all-affordable housing tower, which will also have retail and community space on the lower levels. The site was previously said to allow for a 45-story, 300-unit building, and was formerly occupied by a six-story slaughterhouse, demolished in the 1980’s.
