The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is expected to vote tomorrow on 257 Canal Street, a 20-story affordable housing building in Soho, Manhattan. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Alembic Community Development and The Children’s Village, the 222-foot-tall structure will yield 88 permanently affordable rental units, plus a superintendent’s apartment. The project will also include a one-story retail base and a second floor of social services and community spaces. The property is located between Lafayette Street and Broadway.

The Marq Tops Out At 126 Lafayette Street In Soho, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on The Marq, a 25-story residential building at 126 Lafayette Street in Soho, Manhattan. Designed by Marvel and developed by High Street Residential, the residential subsidiary of Trammell Crow Company, the 273-foot-tall structure will span approximately 108,000 square feet and yield 99 rental units. The project will also include 2,072 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Twenty-five of the homes will be reserved for affordable housing at a blended 60 percent of area median income (AMI). The property was formerly referred to as 130 Lafayette Street and is located between Howard and Canal Streets.

On Tuesday, July 28, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) will re-review plans for 277 Canal Street, a proposed 21-story mixed-use residential building in Soho, Manhattan. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, the proposed 220-foot-tall structure will span 145,880 square feet and yield 159 residential units, 31 of which are set to be reserved for affordable housing. The project will also include 6,510 square feet of ground-floor retail and a package of accessibility upgrades to the Canal Street subway station. The property is being developed by United American Land and is located at the northeast corner of Canal Street and Broadway.

LPC to Review Plans for 21-Story Residential Building at 277 Canal Street in Soho, Manhattan

Today, the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) will begin reviewing plans for 277 Canal Street, a proposed 21-story mixed-use residential building in the Soho Cast Iron Historic District. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by United American Land, the project will add 18 floors atop the Oltarsh Building, which has occupied the property since 1927. The 145,880-square-foot structure will yield 143 rental units with an average scope of 975 square feet, including 31 reserved for affordable housing, as well as 6,510 square feet of ground-floor retail.

LPC Reviews Proposal For Artwork At 530 Broadway In Soho, Manhattan

The New York City Landmark Preservation Commission is reviewing a proposal for a new mural on the north wall of 530 Broadway, an 11-story office building in Soho, Manhattan. The property, managed by SHVO, is composed of three buildings that were adjoined in 2021: 530 Broadway, 532-534 Broadway, and 536-538 Broadway. The combined structure stands at the northeast corner of Broadway and Spring Street.

LPC To Review Proposal For Wall Signage At 459 West Broadway In Soho, Manhattan

The New York Landmark Preservation Commission will review a proposal for new signage at 459 West Broadway, a six-story residential building in Soho‘s Cast Iron Historic District in Manhattan on Tuesday, February 27. The proposal, which was arranged by JPD Preservation Consulting and Overall Murals, is to replace the existing signage painted on the building’s façade and issue ten-year permits for a new painted sign approximately the same size and in the same location.

Developers Reveal First Renderings of Affordable Housing Property 277 Canal Street in SoHo

United American Land has revealed the first renderings of 277 Canal Street, its forthcoming affordable housing project designed by Morris Adjmi Architects in Soho, Manhattan. The building is on track to be the first completed project following passage of a controversial neighborhood rezoning of 55 city blocks.
