532 West 20th Street Continues to Rise Near the High Line, in Chelsea

Construction is nearing the halfway mark at 532 West 20th Street, an 11-story condominium in Chelsea. A large amount of formwork is visible on the main façade as crews build out the walls of the fourth and fifth floors. Located between Tenth Avenue and Eleventh Avenue, the structure is being constructed by design-build firm DDG, which purchased the plot for $24.25 million in 2014. The building will contain 27,019 square feet of residential space divided into nine apartments, for an average of 3,000 square feet apiece. The site is a short walk from the High Line, the waterfront, and Chelsea Piers.

The first renderings have been released for a two-tower, mixed-use development at 11 Lawton Street in New Rochelle. YIMBY reported the permit filing in June for what will be the city’s first skyscraper. This project includes a 605-foot-tall, 48-story tower with approximately 600 residential units split between rentals and condominiums and a secondary 23-story tower that will contain a 190-room hotel.

Installation has begun on the first batch of windows for 611 West 56th Street, aka 823 Eleventh Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. Located at the northwestern corner of West 56th Street and Eleventh Avenue, the 37-story condominium tower is designed by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza and will feature a bright, clean finish of white limestone between the grid of windows. The 450-foot-tall tower is being developed by Sumaida + Khurana and LENY and will contain 80 units.
