Construction is underway on a two-building, 58,000-square-foot retail expansion of Cross County Center, an open-air shopping complex at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers, Westchester County. The 1.15 million-square-foot property opened in 1954 with 30 stores. The expansion was designed by TPG Architecture and is being developed by Marx Realty.
Exterior work is progressing on 136-15 38th Avenue, a nine-story mixed-use building in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Angelo Ng & Anthony Ng Architects Studio for W H Plaza LLC, the 105-foot-tall structure will span nearly 24,000 square feet and yield ten condominium units with an average scope of 1,730 square feet. The project will also include 8,220 square feet of commercial space, 4,884 square feet of community facility space, and a 29-foot-long rear yard. The property is located between Main Street and 138th Street.
Permits have been filed for a ten-story mixed-use building at 307 East 148th Street in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Located between Morris Avenue and Courtlandt Avenue, the lot is near the 3rd Avenue–149th Street subway station, served by the 2 and 5 trains. Construction will soon restart on 2 World Trade Center following a commitment by American Express to serve as the anchor tenant for the 1,226-foot Financial District supertall. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Silverstein Properties, the 55-story structure is the final component of the 16-acre World Trade Center complex and is slated to yield 1.95 million rentable square feet. The full-block property is bounded by Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, Church Street to the east, and Greenwich Street to the west.
Visuals were recently revealed for 351 Powers Avenue, an approved eight-story, 100-percent-affordable housing building in Mott Haven, The Bronx. Designed by STAT Architecture, the structure is planned to yield 84 income-restricted homes in studio- to three-bedroom layouts, with 30 set aside for the formerly homeless. The development will be engineered to Passive House standards and will also include a ground-floor training center, a theater, and indoor-outdoor recreation space. The building will be constructed using local labor on a former city-owned parking lot by the intersection of Powers Avenue and East 142nd Street.
