1345 Third Avenue’s Façade Nears Completion on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Façade installation is finishing up on The Victoria and Lloyd Goldman Health Care Pavilion, a 15-story medical facility for Lenox Hill Hospital at 1345 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Ennead Architects and developed by Northwell Health and the University Financing Foundation, the 215-foot-tall structure will yield 200,000 square feet of outpatient treatment space for specialized cancer care services, imaging and lab testing, cardiac care, neuroscience programs, a sleep study center, acute and chronic disease management, social work services, and more. The $450 million project is located in Lenox Hill between East 76th and 77th Streets.

Demolition Complete For Expansion of White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York

Demolition is complete for a new ten-story expansion of White Plains Hospital at 41 East Post Road in White Plains, New York. Designed by Boston-based Payette, the 475,000-square-foot project will rise from the site of a former multistory parking garage and will increase the hospital’s bed capacity from 292 to 436. The expansion will also add ten more operating suites and more than double the size of the Emergency Department by 25,000 square feet. The site is bound by East Post Road to the north, Maple Street to the south, Davis Road to the east, and South Lexington Avenue to the west.

Excavation and pilings are progressing at 37-18 138th Street, the site of a nine-story commercial building in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Akaia Architecture with Angelo Ng & Anthony Ng Architects Studio as the architect of record, and developed by New Age Developers LLC, the 120-foot-tall structure will yield 65,000 square feet of commercial space to be occupied by restaurants, retail, offices, and a rooftop bar, as well as 27,000 square feet of medical office space. The property is bound by 37th Avenue to the north, 38th Avenue to the south, and 138th Street to the east.

The 16th-tallest building on YIMBY’s year-end construction countdown is MSK Pavilion, a forthcoming 594-foot-tall inpatient hospital building at 1233 York Avenue in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed in collaboration by CannonDesign and Foster + Partners and developed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), the 31-story structure will yield 900,000 square feet of cancer care and surgery facilities. Demolition is currently underway on the current occupant of the site, a 23-story building that formerly housed medical student residences and administrative offices. The property is bound by East 67th Street to the north, East 66th Street to the south, and York Avenue and Rockefeller University to the east.

The 27th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 1522 First Avenue, a 30-story medical office building in the Yorkville section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Extell, the 449-foot-tall structure will yield 400,000 square feet of Class A office space, as well as retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels. The Hospital for Special Surgery will serve as the anchor tenant, occupying 200,000 square feet across the first eight stories of the building. The property is alternately addressed as 403 East 79th Street and is located between East 79th and East 80th Streets.
