Skansa has announced the completion of the Petrocelli Surgical Pavilion at North Shore University Hospital, located at 300 Community Drive in Manhasset, Long Island. The $560 million structure spans 288,000 square feet and will enhance the hospital’s programs in cardiac care, neurosurgery, and organ transplantation.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission is set to review a renovation proposal for 675 Hudson Street, a five-story mixed-use building in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. Designed by Mancini Duffy Architecture, the proposal outlines a number of aesthetic and structural modifications to the vernacular/Neo-Grec style building, which was originally constructed in 1849 and subsequently enlarged between 1854-1860.
SGA has revealed proposals for BioTech Tower, a 37-story life sciences skyscraper along Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards. The structure is planned to yield 650,000 square feet of research and development space, and will stand as the world’s tallest laboratory building.
Aanika Biosciences, a biotech firm focused on enhancing global food safety and transparency, has opened a new 27,087-square-foot facility at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The opening marks a significant expansion from its initial 900-square-foot space that opened in 2018. The new facility will include offices for the company’s growing team and increased capacity for research and development, wet lab testing, and biomanufacturing.
The 26th-tallest building on our annual year-end construction countdown is 1522 First Avenue, a 30-story medical office building rising in the Yorkville section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by Extell Development Company, the 449-foot-tall structure will yield 400,000 square feet of Class A office space and retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels. The Hospital for Special Surgery will serve as the anchor tenant, occupying 200,000 square feet across the first eight stories of the building. Ancora Engineering is the engineer of record and Lendlease is the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 403 East 79th Street and located between East 79th and 80th Streets.
