TSX Broadway’s New Superstructure Begins Assembly at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction has begun on the new superstructure for 1568 Broadway, a 470-foot-tall hotel in Times Square. Designed by PBDW Architects, Mancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the project involved the partial demolition of the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton to make way for the new 550,000-square-foot tower, which will be dubbed TSX Broadway. The overhaul also includes the raising of Kirchoff & Rose’s 108-year-old Palace Theater by 30 feet to make room for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street to the east of the red TKTS stairs, and is slated to cost $2.5 billion.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Ebenezer Plaza Phase 1 North, a nine-story mixed-use building at 96 New Lots Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The 137,747-square-foot steel development was designed by Perkins Eastman and yields 118 units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 106 units for residents at 30 to 80 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $14,915 to $118,400.

Fifth Avenue Hotel’s Renovated Façade Revealed at 250 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan

Exterior work is progressing on The Fifth Avenue Hotel at 250 Fifth Avenue in NoMad. Designed by Perkins Eastman, PBDW Architects, and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and developed by Flaneur Hospitality, the project involves the construction a 230-foot-tall, 24-story tower and the renovation of the adjacent 116-year-old McKim, Mead & White-designed building.

106 West 56th Street Nears Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 106 West 56th Street, a 403-foot-tall office building in Midtown. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by private equity firm Savanna along with Hong Kong-based developer Atom Assets, the slim 27-story structure rises between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, one street to the south of Billionaires’ Row.

18 Sixth Avenue’s Glass Façade Installation Continues in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Façade work is progressing quickly on 18 Sixth Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 532-foot-tall, 740,000-square-foot building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The property sits directly adjacent to Barclays Center and is bound by Atlantic Avenue to the north and the corner of Sixth Avenue and Pacific Street to the east. 18 Sixth Avenue is the tallest building in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan and will eventually be joined by a corridor of future buildings running down Atlantic Avenue over the train tracks to the east.

Demolition work is continuing at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, where the 46-story, 470-foot-tall building now stands less than 20 stories high. Designed by PBDW Architects, Mancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding Company, Maefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the project involves the partial demolition of the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton and construction of a new 46-story, 550,000-square-foot hotel tower dubbed TSX Broadway, on its foundations. This also includes the preservation of the 108-year-old Palace Theater, which will be raised 30 feet to make room for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street, directly across from the TKTS stairs.

99 Hudson Street’s Interiors and Amenities Near Completion in Jersey City

Exterior work is complete and closings are underway for Jersey City‘s 99 Hudson Street, the tallest skyscraper in the state of New Jersey and number 11 on our annual construction countdown. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by COA 99 Hudson, LLC, the 79-story, 900-foot-tall residential tower contains 781 condominium units. The site is bound by Hudson Street to the east, Grand Street to the south, Greene Street to the west, and York Street to the north.

Ornamental Elements Installed on Nearly Finished Turkevi Center at 821 First Avenue in Turtle Bay

Number 30 on our countdown of the tallest projects under construction in New York is the Turkevi Center, a 563-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 821 First Avenue in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the 35-story tower will serve as the consulate for the Republic of Turkey.

The Wheeler Stands Completed at 181 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is complete on The Wheeler, a mixed-use development at 181 Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and Shimoda Design Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the project involved the construction of modern 14-story, 256-foot-tall addition atop a historic Art Deco building containing a Macy’s department store. The steel-framed addition yields 843,830 square feet of new commercial space above the Macy’s, which spans the first four floors. Offices take up the remaining 90,000 square feet and feature 16-foot-tall ceiling heights. The property is also addressed as 422 Fulton Street.
