Flushing Commons Gets New Rendering, First Phase On Track For 2017 Delivery

Early in 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of Flushing Commons, a 1.8-million square-foot mixed-use development coming to downtown Flushing, located on the former municipal parking lot between 37th and 39th Avenues, and Union and 138th Streets. Last summer, the developers broke ground on phase 1, which includes 148 condominiums and 220,000 square feet of commercial space, and now The New York Times has an updated rendering, showing buildings with slightly more glass than before.


New York Wheel

Cranes Arrive At New York Wheel Site in St George, Assembly Will Begin In 2016

Last month, piling began at the site of the 630-foot-tall New York Wheel, at 155 Richmond Terrace, in Staten Island’s St. George. Now cranes have arrived to assist construction, per the Staten Island Advance. Construction of a 950-space parking garage and the Wheel’s foundation is currently underway, and according to Commercial Observer, parts for the main structure will arrive in February of 2016. Skanska is building the foundation, and Starneth BV is designing.


60 South Broadway

707-Unit Mixed-Use Development Planned At 60 South Broadway, White Plains

A branch of the Miami-based Lennar Corporation is proposing a twin-towered, 858,000 square-foot mixed-use development at 60 South Broadway, in White Plains, and according to Westfair, the plan has been sent to the Common Council after recently clearing the Planning Board. The base podium will contain amenity space and 95,000 square feet of retail, and above, two 24-story towers will have 707 rental units, 71 of which will be let at below-market rates. Perkins Eastman is designing, and construction is scheduled to begin in May 2016.



New York Wheel

Construction Begins On Staten Island’s 630-Foot New York Wheel, St. George

Fencing is up around the site of Staten Island’s planned New York Wheel, in St. George, and it appears construction is now in full motion, per the Staten Island Advance. In 2014, YIMBY brought you renderings of the 630-foot-tall Ferris wheel, which ‘New York Wheel LLC’ is developing and Starneth BV is designing (with Perkins Eastman). Completion is expected in the first half of 2017, alongside the Empire Outlets, also in St. George.
