New renderings have been released for the 92-story Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM)-designed 35 Hudson Yards, the second tallest structure in the mega-development. Along with the new renderings, images of construction reveal that the façade has shot up to just a few stories under the peak. Once fully installed, all five of the HY towers currently n the skyline will be near completely clad.
Hudson Yards District
Permits have been pre-filed for a 58-story tower at 601 West 29nd Street in the Hudson Yards district of Manhattan. The skyscraper, which will share block 675 in Manhattan with a second structure, was first announced in the summer of 2018, with renderings just coming out this June. Douglaston Development will be responsible for the project.
In June, Tishman Speyer announced that construction would start for their 64-story supertall office tower in the Hudson Yards district, dubbed The Spiral, so named for BIG’s staircase terrace motif. The look is indicative of the modern collaborative style of workspace the architects and developers are working to create. Today, YIMBY has an update on progress, which appears to be making swift headway. The site’s official address is 509 West 34th Street.
New permits have been filed that reveal 50 Hudson Yards will rise to be 1,011 feet tall. This brings the tower further into the supertall territory, when before it was one foot above the official minimum of 984 feet, or 300 meters. It is unclear how or if this will affect the overall design. The tower is the last of Hudson Yard’s first phase to start construction, and will coincidentally be the largest by floor area.
Yet another new high-rise is officially about to begin rising in Hudson Yards. Permits have been filed for a 43-story hotel at 450 Eleventh Avenue, across from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and West 37th Street. The 34th Street Hudson Yards subway station is four blocks away. Atria Builders is responsible for the permit filings, and Flushing-based Marx Development Groups will be responsible for the development.
