Renderings Released For Resorts World Casino Expansion Proposal in Ozone Park, Queens

New renderings have been revealed for an extensive proposed expansion of the Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) casino complex at the Aqueduct Race Track in South Ozone Park, Queens. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the estimated $5 billion project would add 350,000 square feet of gaming space, a 1,600-room Crockfords-branded hotel, a 7,000-seat arena, wellness amenities, restaurants, and more than 10 acres of parks, trails, and bike paths. The existing complex spans 1 million square feet with 400 guest rooms and around 6,500 slot machines, and is bound by Rockaway Boulevard to the north, the Belt Parkway to the south, 114th Street to the east, and Aqueduct Road to the west.

In a meeting with Willets Point Queens Community Board 7, the New York City Football Club presented its plans to construct a 25,000-seat soccer stadium near Citi Field in Corona, Queens. Known as the Willets Point Revitalization Plan, the scope of work also includes a 100-percent affordable housing project with more than 2,500 units, a 650-seat school, a 250-key hotel, retail and dining locations, and more than 40,000 square feet of public open space.

Developers and city officials recently joined to celebrate the beginning of occupancy at 1101 and 1089 President Street in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Developed in partnership by Breaking Ground and BFC Partners, the two-building complex once served as the historic Bedford Union Armory and now comprises 415 income-restricted rental units, a parking garage, and the 500,000-square-foot Major R. Owens Health and Wellness Community Center, a sprawling facility with large recreational spaces and offices for medical access and emotional counseling.

John A. Paulson Center Completes Construction at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan

Construction is complete on the John A. Paulson Center, a 23-story academic building for New York University at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the 735,000-square-foot structure is the largest expansion in the history of the campus and consists of three glass-clad towers rising from a podium spanning a full city block. Permasteelisa engineered and manufactured the facade, and Turner Construction Company was the contractor for the $1.2 billion project, which is bound by Bleecker Street to the north, Houston Street to the south, Mercer Street to the east, and I.M. Pei’s University Village complex to the west.
