Today YIMBY has another exclusive new look at the imminently-opening 29-22 Northern Boulevard, officially dubbed ALTA LIC, in Long Island City, Queens. The 43-story building stands across the street from Dutch Kills Green Park, a small, pleasant public park that is rising in relevance. The Queens Plaza subway station is just one block away, and the Queensboro Plaza station is four blocks further, giving future tenants access to the E, M, N, R, W, and 7 trains.

Permits have been filed for a new five-story public school at 1-55 54^th Avenue in Long Island City, Queens. The site is two blocks away from Hunter’s Point South Park, a comfortable public waterfront space overlooking the East River and Midtown skyline. The project will be part of the revitalization of the southern tip of the borough’s East River waterfront area.

Permits have been filed for two new four-story residential buildings at 739 and 741 Fenimore Street in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. The site is five avenues away from the Winthrop Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains, and fifteen blocks away from the Utica Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. The structure is also positioned near the substantial Kings County Hospital Center complex, and the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Joel Gluck of Spencer Equity is behind the applications.

An anonymous developer has filed for a rezoning to make way for a nine-story mixed-use building at 57 Caton Place, in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. The site is two blocks away from the Fort Hamilton Parkway subway station, serviced by the F and G trains. The site is located a block away from Machate Circle, near the southern point of the expansive Prospect Park.

Façade Installation Begins for Gene Kaufman-Designed 1050 Sixth Avenue, Midtown Manhattan

The Gene Kaufman designed-1050 Sixth Avenue, dubbed ML House, is making significant progress in the heart of Midtown, Manhattan. In a break from the architect’s norm, the building will not be hospitality-minded; rather, it will yield 24 floors of apartments, as well as ground-floor retail space. The site is half a block away from Bryant Park, with access to several subway lines just a few blocks in any direction. Orin Wilf’s Garden Homes and Skyline is responsible for the development.

Design Revealed for 145 Central Park North, 14-Story Condo Project Coming to Harlem

With so much focus on the rising developments along Central Park South, there hasn’t been much discussion of new penthouses rising on the other end of the greenery, mostly because they are very few and far between. One of those rarities is 145 Central Park North, a 14-story residential building near the center of Central Park North in Harlem, between 7^th Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard. Today, YIMBY has the first rendering of the project, which is being developed by Einhorn Development Group.

Façade Installation Starts for TWA Hotels at JFK Airport, Queens

Construction of the two-structure TWA Hotel, flanking the historic TWA terminal, has made significant progress since our last update in December. Photos from the site reveal that one of the hotel towers is nearly fully covered with its façade, and that the second tower has topped-out.

Demolition Permits Filed for 499-501 Third Avenue, Kips Bay, Manhattan

Plans for a thirteen-story mixed-use building were first floated in 2016 at 501 Third Avenue, on the 34^th Street border between Kips Bay and Murray Hill. While the site has since sat idle, this appears to be changing up. Demolition permits have now been filed for two buildings, at 499 Third Avenue and 501 Third Avenue. Xin Xu of China Overseas Land & Investments Co filed the documents.

Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 1728 Townsend Avenue, in the Mount Hope neighborhood of The Bronx. The project is ideally located between two subway stations. Two blocks east is the 174-175^th Street station, serviced by the B and D trains, with the 176^th street station two blocks north, serviced by the 4 train. Luce Popaj will be responsible for the development.

With so many new residential buildings on the rise in Williamsburg, it’s easy to forget about office development in the neighborhood. But that’s exactly what’s in store for 107 North 1^st Street. The project will create 18,000 square feet of office space by integrating modern amenities into a historic brick building. The Melamed Architects-designed revamp will also bring a retail tenant into the first two floors.
