Related’s 35 Hudson Yards Tops Out As Neighborhood’s First Residential Supertall

Progress on the second highest tower in the Hudson Yards mega-development has reached a milestone. 35 Hudson Yards has officially topped out at 1,009 feet. Now that it has reached that height, it is the ninth tallest structure in New York City and 19^th tallest in the United States. Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group are responsible for the development. Next door, 30 Hudson Yards is tantalizingly close to topping out, but the milestone has not yet officially occurred.

Renderings Revealed for Morris Adjmi-Designed 119-121 2nd Avenue, East Village

Plans for the replacement at 119-121 2^nd Avenue have been submitted to the Landmark Preservation Commission, allowing the public a first look at what may be coming to an East Village corner. The three lots previously on the site were cleared from the devastating 2015 East Village gas explosion, which injured 19 and caused two deaths. The two lots were purchased for $9.15 million in 2017, and permits were filed in late February 2018 for the replacement. Nexus Development will be responsible for the rebuild, first revealed by EV Grieve.

Permits Filed for 173 Lefferts Place, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a four-story building at 173 Lefferts Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant, bordering Crown Height, in Brooklyn. The development will pair with 171 Lefferts Place, for which permits were filed last month. Yosef Elishaiev of the Infinity Properties will be developing both buildings. The lot is just a block way from the Franklin Avenue subway station, end of the line for the S trains. Six blocks away is the Nostrand Avenue subway station, serviced by the A trains.

Permits Filed for 1115 East 165th Street, Longwood, The Bronx.

Permits have been filed for an eight-story building at 1115 East 165^th Street in Longwood, The Bronx. The site is four blocks away from the Whitlock Avenue subway station, serviced by 6 trains, and six blocks from Simpson Street subway station, serviced by 2 and 5 trains. The latter station providing close access to retail and commercial amenities. New Destiny Housing will be responsible for the development. Their firm specializes with building housing for vulnerable homeless populations in the city.

Tishman Speyer’s BIG Supertall Spiral Officially Breaks Ground, Hudson Yards

The prominence of the Hudson Yards district continues to grow, and today, Tishman Speyer has announced the official start of construction for The Spiral. The 1,031-foot tall building will be the fifth supertall added to the area. An event to mark the occasion will be held this afternoon, and will conclude with the planting of a 20-foot Alaskan Cedar tree to serve as Hudson Boulevard & Park’s annual Christmas tree.

Construction Update for 111 Leroy Street, West Village

The redevelopment of the southwest corner of the West Village by the Hudson River is often overlooked, but that part of the neighborhood is about to get a healthy dose of modernization. One project now under construction is 111 Leroy Street, which will create nine apartments and five townhouses. Work has progressed significantly since our last look, and façade installation appears imminent. Property Markets Group is responsible for the development.

Permits Pre-Filed for 640 Columbia Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn

Permits are now processing for a sizable new three-story building at 640 Columbia Street, in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The filings confirm movement on a new multi-level commercial distribution center by Dov Hertz and the Innovo Property Group, making this the second large warehouse by the pair in the Five Boroughs. Their first project, still under development, is 2050 Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx. The Red Hook site would be right next to IKEA, with close proximity to the I-278 and I-478, which would give trucks quick access to Manhattan, Long Island, and New Jersey through Staten Island.

Permits Filed for School at 922 78th Street, Dyker Heights, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a four-story public school facility at 922 78^th Street in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. The development, positioned in a heavily residential neighborhood, will better suit the existing PS 127 for a rising student population. The building is sixteen blocks away from the Fort Hamilton subway station, serviced by N, Q, and W trains. The NYC School Construction Authority is responsible for the applications.

Permits Filed for 1508 Avenue Z, Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a 16-story long-term care facility at 1508 Avenue Z, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The site is just two blocks away from the Sheepshead Bay subway station, serviced by the B and Q trains. SB1 Holdings LLC is listed as responsible for the development.

Permits Filed for 571 Ocean Parkway, Kensington, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for an eight-story residential building at 571 Ocean Parkway, in Kensington, Brooklyn. The lot is well connected to public transportation, especially for a neighborhood south of Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery. Residents will be six blocks away from the 18^th Avenue subway station, serviced by the F trains, and one stop away from Church Avenue, with connections to the G train. Ten blocks away is the Newkirk Plaza subways station, serviced by B and Q trains. MVM Ocean LLC is listed as behind the applications.
