L10 Arts And Cultural Center Opens At 300 Ashland Place In Fort Greene, Brooklyn

The L10 Arts and Cultural Center has opened at 300 Ashland Place in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by Andrea Steele Architecture, the 65,000‑square‑foot facility is the result of a collaborative effort between the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), and Two Trees Management, with construction supported by an $84 million city investment. The center now serves as a permanent home for cultural institutions including the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art, 651 ARTS, and the Brooklyn Public Library.

98 DeKalb Avenue’s Façade Nears Completion In Fort Greene, Brooklyn

The 14th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 98 Dekalb Avenue, a 610-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Rockrose Development, the 49-story structure will span 418,092 square feet and yield 609 residential units and 3,775 square feet of commercial space. The property is alternately addressed as 180 Ashland Place and located at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Ashland Place.

240 Willoughby Street’s Exterior Nears Completion in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Exterior work continues on 240 Willoughby Street, a 30-story residential building in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by Fischer Rasmussen Whitefield Architects and developed by Rabsky Group, which purchased the property for $95 million in 2019, the structure will yield 300 rental units with 147 dedicated to affordable housing. 240 Willoughby LLC is the owner of the property, which directly abuts an existing 21-story apartment building that is simultaneously undergoing extensive renovations. The development is bound by Willoughby Street to the north, the Brooklyn Hospital Center to the south, Fort Greene Park to the east, and Ashland Place to the west.

New Renderings Revealed For 98 Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

A new series of renderings has been revealed for 98 Dekalb Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper under construction in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. 570 Fulton Street Begins Ascent in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

Construction is ascending on 570 Fulton Street, a 23-story residential building along the border of Fort Greene and Downtown Brooklyn. Developed by 570 Fulton St LLC, the 128,872-square-foot structure will yield 155 rental units, ground-floor retail space, a cellar level, and an undisclosed collection of amenities. The project is located on a 7,200-square-foot interior lot situated between Rockwell Place to the east and Flatbush Avenue to the west. The architect remains to be publicly disclosed.

Reveal for 16-Story, 145-Unit All-Affordable Senior Building at 110 St. Edwards Street, Fort Greene

Back in July of 2015, it was revealed that the New York City Housing Authority was planning an all-affordable residential building at 110 St. Edwards Street, located at the corner of Myrtle Avenue within the Ingersoll Houses public housing development, in Fort Greene. Now, a rendering, along with additional details, have been revealed on the building in a report by the New York Times. The building will rise 16 stories and will host 145 below-market rate, senior-exclusive (62-years-old and up) rental apartments. The project, dubbed Ingersoll Senior, will also include a senior center featuring a variety of services. BFC Partners is the developer and will ground-lease the property from the city. Construction is expected to begin next year.

Exterior Work Wrapping Up on BAM South Tower, 300 Ashland Place, Fort Greene

With More Traditional Design, Landmarks Approves Three-Family Home at 348 Clermont Avenue, Fort Greene

In January, we reported on a proposal for a four-story, three-unit residential building on the vacant lot at 348 Clermont Avenue. That’s between Lafayette and Green avenues in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Historic District. Its design was initially rejected by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. On Tuesday, after a rethink, a more traditional design won them over.

Four-Story, Four-Unit Residential Building Planned At 399 Adelphi Street, Fort Greene

Brooklyn-based Urban View Realty has filed applications for a four-story, four-unit residential building at 399 Adelphi Street, in southern Fort Greene, located five blocks from the Lafayette Avenue stop on the C train. The structure will measure just 5,000 square feet and all of its residential units will have full-floor configurations. The fourth-floor penthouse units will feature, in addition, a fifth-floor penthouse level. The apartments will most likely be condominiums. Woody Chen’s Elmhurst-based Infocus Design & Planning is the architect of record. The project would rise on a 25-foot-wide vacant lot, although the plot of land is associated with the building next door and must first be subdivided.

Landmarks Not Ready To Approve New Three-Family House At 348 Clermont Avenue, Fort Greene

A new residential building is probably coming to a vacant lot on Clermont Avenue, between Lafayette and Green avenues, in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Historic District. It just won’t be quite what was proposed to the Landmarks Preservation Commission on last Tuesday. The commission did not approve the plan for a three-family, four-story structure at its public hearing.
