Topped-Out 450 Eleventh Avenue Begins Glass Curtain Wall Installation in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 51-story Aloft Hotel in Hudson Yards. Designed by Moshe Tzur Architects and DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 642-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 379 guest rooms as well as a business center, a ballroom, and a fourth-floor restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace. Atria Builders LLC is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center. Construction is expected to cost around $368 million.

Edge NYC to Debut ‘City Climb’ Aerial Experience at 30 Hudson Yards

Edge NYC at 30 Hudson Yards is set to open City Climb, a new attraction for the supertall observatory in Hudson Yards. Billed as the “highest external building climb in the world,” the experience will invite guests to ascend a set of stairs along the precipice of the Kohn Pederson Fox-designed skyscraper’s slanting crown more than 1,200 feet above street level, and even lean out from a platform at the tip of the building.

1,663-Foot-Tall Tower by David Adjaye Revealed As Part of RFP Submission For 418 11th Avenue, In Hudson Yards

While concrete details remain unconfirmed, the first Request for Proposal (RFP) submission for the site of a future supertall north of Related Companies’ Hudson Yards complex has now been unveiled. The ground-up 1,663-foot-tall building would become one of the tallest towers in New York City by both architectural and roof height, on the site of the former Hudson Spire proposal. Sir David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates is the architect, while developers include Deryl McKissick, The Peebles Corporation, Exact Capital Group, and the Witkoff Group. The envisioned master plan would sit on a 1.2-acre lot, dubbed “Site K,” at 418 11th Avenue, bound by West 35th and West 36th Street, Hudson Boulevard West, and 11th Avenue.

451 Tenth Avenue Tops Out Over Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on 451 Tenth Avenue, a 587-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Related Companies, the 45-story project stands on an L-shaped plot at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 35th Street.

50 Hudson Yards’ Curtain Wall Nears Completion in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Exterior work is almost complete on Foster + Partners‘ 50 Hudson Yards, a 1,011-foot commercial supertall in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, the 58-story skyscraper is the final structure in the first phase of Hudson Yards and the largest by volume, yielding 2.9 million square feet of office space. The Midtown site is bound by West 34th Street to the north, Tenth Avenue to the east, West 33rd Street to the south, and Hudson Boulevard to the west.

The Spiral’s Glass Façade Reaches Roof Parapet at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

The Spiral‘s glass curtain wall is closing in on the final floors of the 66-story, 1,041-foot-tall commercial supertall at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the property occupies a full block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets, and is poised to provide a massive 2.85 million square feet of office space to Midtown, Manhattan. Turner Construction Company is serving as the construction manager, Banker Steel is in charge of manufacturing the steel, and Permasteelisa is the contractor for the reflective enclosure. The Spiral is expected to cost around $3.7 billion.

Reno Permits Filed for 440 West 36th Street in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Renovation permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 440 West 36th Street in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards. Located between Tenth and Dyer Avenues, the interior lot is one block from the 34th Street-Hudson Yards subway station, serviced by the 7 train. Chun-Hsiung Huang under the Yards Realty LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

YIMBY’s 2021 Q1 Report Shows 3,566 New Residential Units Filed from January through March

Filing statistics for the first quarter of 2021 are in, and New York YIMBY has prepared a detailed report that analyzes the findings. During the period from January through March, applications were filed for 3,566 new residential units across the five boroughs. Compared to the first quarter of 2020, the number of buildings filed dipped slightly in January (from 163 in 2020 to 135 in 2021) and negligibly in February (from 158 in 2020 to 158 in 2021). The unexpected surprise came in March, when a total of just six new building applications were filed over the course of the month, which is a collapse compared to the 147 filings registered in March of last year. However, many of the projects filed for during this period were conceived during the height of local and global economic uncertainty. In addition, in early March of 2021, the city implemented a moratorium on permit filings for properties that had unresolved violations, which may have further deflated the total number of new buildings filed. 606 West 30th Prepares to Go Vertical in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Construction is about to go vertical on 606 West 30th Street, a 545-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Lalezarian Properties, the 42-story building will yield 312,350 square feet, of which 192,780 will be dedicated to residential space and 14,240 for commercial use. The property is located between Eleventh Avenue and West Street near the border of West Chelsea.
