Work is underway on the office-to-residential conversion and vertical expansion of 6 East 43rd Street, a 27-story office tower in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Gensler and developed by Vanbarton Group, the 400,000-square-foot project will yield 441 rental units, with 111 dedicated to affordable housing. The 57-year-old structure is located between Fifth and Madison Avenues with frontage on both East 42nd and 43rd Streets.

Concluding our Turkey Week list of stalled projects in New York is Penn 15, a proposed 50-story supertall commercial skyscraper at 15 Penn Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Vornado Realty Trust, the 1,000-foot-tall structure is planned to yield 2.2 million square feet of office space as the centerpiece of the 7.4-million-square-foot Penn District master plan. The property is located along Seventh Avenue between West 32nd and 33rd Streets, directly across from Penn Station.

Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by BXP and The Moinian Group, the $3 billion project was planned to rise 987 feet tall and yield 1.86 million square feet of office space. The property occupies a full city block bounded by West 35th Street to the north, West 34th Street to the south, Bella Abzug Park to the east, and Eleventh Avenue to the west.

Plans have been announced for an 18-story residential building at 335–339 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Developed in a joint venture between Slate Property Group and Pi Capital Partners, the structure will span roughly 89,000 square feet and yield approximately 95 rental units. The project will also include ground-floor retail space. Twenty percent of the units are planned to be dedicated to affordable housing under New York’s 485-x tax abatement program. The property is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 33rd Street, directly across from the Empire State Building.

The project also includes 6,380 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 10,343-square-foot cellar level. The property is located on a formerly vacant interior lot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
