Rolex USA Headquarters Reaches Halfway Mark at 665 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

At number 22 on YIMBY’s countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 665 Fifth Avenue, a 469-foot-tall office building that will house the US headquarters for Rolex in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects with Adamson Associates as the architect of record and developed by the Rolex Realty Company, the 28-story structure will yield 199,000 square feet of office and retail space for the world-famous watchmaker. The ground-up project is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 53rd Street.

Future of Fifth Partnership Gets $152.7 Million In Funding To Transform Fifth Avenue In Midtown, Manhattan

New York City recently issued $152.7 million in funding to the Future of Fifth Partnership, an organization which aims to transform Fifth Avenue into a pedestrian-centered boulevard between Bryant Park and Central Park in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed in partnership between Sam Schwartz and Field Operations, the project plans to nearly double the width of sidewalks along Fifth Avenue to 33.5 feet each and introduce more than 230 new trees, along with approximately 20,000 square feet of planters, seating, and activation spaces.

32 West 48th Street’s Curtain Wall Nears Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

The 25th-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 32 West 48th Street, a 456-foot-tall boutique hotel tower to be called the Kimpton Midtown NYC in the Diamond District of Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Extell, the 31-story structure will span 213,158 square feet and yield 534 guest rooms operated by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, with an average scope of 316 square feet. The property is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, directly south of Rockefeller Center, with a narrow annex extending south to West 47th Street. INC Architecture & Design is handling interior design work.

Façade Work Continues on 125 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

At number 28 on our countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York is 125 West 57th Street, a 26-story commercial building on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Cain International, the 420-foot-tall structure will span 260,000 square feet and yield 185,000 square feet of full-floor Class A office space, a dedicated amenities floor designed by Gensler, 7,000 square feet of retail space, and a new home for the Calvary Baptist Church, which has operated on the site since 1883 and sold the property to the developers for $150 million in 2017. The project is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues between Christian de Portzamparc’s One57 and SHoP Architects’ 111 West 57th Street.
