989 Sixth Avenue Rises Quickly in Midtown, Manhattan

At number eight on our year-end countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is 989 Sixth Avenue, a 785-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in the Garment District of Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Sioni Group under the 989 Sixth Realty LLC, the 68-story structure will span 384,118 square feet and yield 300 condominium units with an average scope of 991 square feet, as well as 86,817 square feet of commercial space and two cellar levels. The property is alternately addressed as 100 West 37th Street and located at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and West 37th Street.

Renderings Revealed for 47-Story Skyscraper at 70 Hudson Yards in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Construction could soon begin on 70 Hudson Yards, a proposed 47-story office skyscraper in Hudson Yards, Manhattan. The 1.1-million-square-foot structure is being designed by Roger Ferris+ Partners and Gensler and developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, which are currently in discussions with potential tenants. The building is planned to become New York’s first zero-carbon emission skyscraper and will rise from an assemblage of two adjacent parcels bound by West 36th and 35th Streets to the north and south, The Set at 451 Tenth Avenue to the east, and Hudson Boulevard East and Bella Abzug Park to the west.

50 West 66th Street Nears Completion on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

The ninth-tallest building on our year-end construction countdown is 50 West 66th Street, a 775-foot-tall residential skyscraper on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Snøhetta with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Extell and Tennor Holding, the 69-story structure surpassed the nearby 200 Amsterdam Avenue for the title of tallest building on the Upper West Side, and will yield 127 condominium units. The property is located on an interior lot between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West with frontage on both West 65th and West 66th Streets.

418-420 East 75th Street Wraps Up Construction on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Construction is finishing up on 418-420 East 75th Street, a seven-story residential building in the Lenox Hill section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by ARC Architecture + Design Studio and developed by Robert Michaeli of Brooklyn B Company Group, the 74-foot-tall structure will yield six condominium units with an average scope of 1,525 square feet, as well as a cellar level and a 31-foot-long rear yard. The property is located on an interior lot between First and York Avenues.

Lumen LIC Nears Completion at 23-15 44th Road in Long Island City, Queens

Kicking off the top ten on our annual countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York is Lumen LIC, a 754-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 23-15 44th Road in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by FSA Capital, the 66-story structure will span 855,400 square feet and yield 921 rental units with an average scope of 910 square feet, as well as lower-level office space and 17,400 square feet of ground-floor retail. The residential inventory is planned to include 282 affordable housing units. The property is alternately addressed as 43-30 24th Street and located along 44th Road between 23rd and 24th Streets.
