Silverstein Properties Unveils Scale Models of 2 and 5 World Trade Center Skyscrapers in Financial District, Manhattan

Developer Silverstein Properties recently debuted a series of architectural models to preview the latest designs of 2 and 5 World Trade Center in Manhattan’s Financial District. Designed by Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, 2 World Trade Center is planned to rise 80 stories and 1,348 feet tall, just 20 feet shorter than the roof height of 1 World Trade Center, and will yield office space. Kohn Pedersen Fox is the designer for 5 World Trade Center, a residential skyscraper co-developed by Brookfield Properties with a planned height of 920 feet. The 2 World Trade Center plot is located within the original 16-acre World Trade Center complex bound by Vesey, Fulton, Greenwich, and Church Streets. The 5 World Trade Center site is located to the south of Liberty Park and bound by Greenwich, Albany, and Washington Streets.

Construction has topped out on 758-760 Metropolitan Avenue, a six-story mixed-use building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by New York Design Architects, LLP for Brooklyn Boyz Developers LLC, the 70-foot-tall structure will yield ten residential units with an average scope of 860 square feet, as well as 4,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 35-foot-long rear yard. The property will be split into two separate addresses and is situated on an interior lot between Humboldt Street to the east and Graham Avenue to the west.

Construction is nearing completion on 297 Wallabout Street, a six-story residential building in the Broadway Triangle section of South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Jongmin Kim Architects for Wallabout 295 Group, the 79-foot-tall structure will span 31,760 square feet and yield five condominium units with an average scope of 4,436 square feet, as well as a cellar level, a 30-foot-long rear yard, and five enclosed parking spaces. The property is located on an interior lot between Throop and Harrison Avenues.

Kay’s Place Rises Past Halfway Mark at 487 4th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn

Construction is rising on Kay’s Place, an 11-story mixed-use building at 487 4th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed and built by Procida Companies under the 487 4th Avenue Managers LLC, the 107-foot-tall structure will span 49,308 square feet and yield 44 affordable rental units with an average scope of 864 square feet, as well as 2,154 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, a cellar level, and one enclosed parking space. Ten of the units will be one-bedroom apartments for residents with developmental disabilities, and a portion of the remainder will be reserved for the formerly homeless. The property is located at the corner of 4th Avenue and 12th Street.

737 4th Avenue Tops Out in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

Construction recently topped out on 737 4th Avenue, a 14-story mixed-use residential building in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Designed by Dencityworks Architecture and developed by BEB Capital, Totem/Ailanthus, and SK Development, the 145-foot-tall structure will span 193,000 square feet and yield 187 mixed-income rental units with 46 dedicated to affordable housing, as well as 6,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space with a 1,275-square-foot executed lease to former tenant Dunkin Donuts, which operated at the former occupant of the property before its demolition. The project is located between 24th and 25th Streets.
