YIMBY checked in on the progress of three smaller-scale projects among the massive high-rise developments transforming the Hunters Point South section of Long Island City, Queens. The projects, which include two residential buildings and a school, are part of the ongoing evolution of the East River-adjacent area from a former industrial center into a thriving mixed-use community. The properties are all within walking distance of the Vernon Boulevard–Jackson Avenue subway station, served by the 7 train, as well as the Hunters Point ferry terminal.

520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Wraps Up Construction in Midtown, Manhattan

Work is nearing full completion on 520 Fifth Avenue, an 88-story mixed-use supertall skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, with Suffolk Construction serving as the general contractor, the 1,002-foot-tall structure spans 415,000 square feet and yields 100 condominium units, a Moss private members club, and 25 floors of boutique office space. The project will also include ground-floor retail. The property is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.

Affordable Housing Developments Revealed For 73 Meserole Street, 178 Montrose Avenue In Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Renderings were recently unveiled for 73 Meserole Street and 178 Montrose Avenue, a pair of 14- and 13-story affordable housing buildings in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed in a partnership between Slate Property Group and RiseBoro Community Partnership, the structures will yield a combined 312 rental units in studio to three-bedroom layouts, with 163 units at 178 Montrose Avenue and 149 units at 73 Meserole Street.
