Renderings have recently been revealed for three new low- and mid-rise projects in Newark, New Jersey. Though more modest in scale than many of the large projects transforming the city and its skyline, they nonetheless represent an encouraging sign of growth and will create much-needed new housing for the region. The projects are located in the Ironbound and University Heights districts.
Construction is finished on 968 Bonnel Court, a five-story residential building in the Centurion Union Center mixed-use community in Union, New Jersey. Designed by Commito Associates and developed by Landmark, the structure yields 85 one- and two-bedroom units along with a collection of amenities. The building is the fifth phase of the complex, which is planned to introduce 363 new apartments and approximately 32,000 square feet of retail space along Stuyvesant Avenue.
Construction is set to commence on 22 Fulton, a 21-story residential building at 22 Fulton Street in Newark, New Jersey. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed in a joint venture between SK Development and the Berger Organization, the structure will yield 396 rental units. The project will also include 4,800 square feet of retail space and 106 parking spaces. The property is located in a Qualified Opportunity Zone near the intersection of Fulton and Broad Streets.
GN Management, a Jersey City-based real estate firm, has acquired full ownership of the Harborside 9 development site in Jersey City. The acquisition, finalized through affiliate and intercompany transfers, included the remaining ownership interest held by Panepinto Properties, a longtime developer in the area. The transfer marks a key milestone for the future 57-story tower, a major component of the city’s growing waterfront development.
Construction recently broke ground on Lionsgate Newark and 1888 Studios, two separate television and film production complexes in Newark and Bayonne, New Jersey. The ground-up facilities will join the growing crop of production studios opening across the tri-state area.
