Seven-Story, 34-Unit Residential Project Rises At 542 West 153rd Street, Hamilton Heights

In July of 2014, YIMBY reported on applications for a seven-story, 34-unit residential building at 542 West 153rd Street, in Hamilton Heights, and now the project is under construction and four stories above street level, per Harlem+Bespoke. Synapse Development Group is developing the building, with the intention to achieve Passive House standards. Units will average 865 square feet, and East Village-based Chris Benedict is designing. Completion is currently expected in the spring of 2016.


1551 49th Street

Four-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Project Planned At 1551 49th Street, Borough Park

Kensington-based Success Custom Builders has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential building at 1551 49th Street, in central Borough Park, four blocks east of the 50th Street stop on the D train. The building will measure 9,015 square feet, which means units will average 1,127 square feet. Douglas Pulaski’s Brooklyn-based Bricolage Designs is the applicant of record, and a brick 2.5-story home must first be demolished.


200 Clifton Place

Two Four-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Buildings Filed At 200 Clifton Place, Bed-Stuy

Earlier this year, YIMBY reported on applications for a four-story, 16-unit residential building at 198-200 Clifton Place, in western Bedford-Stuyvesant. But now it appears the site has been acquired by a new owner, Williamsburg-based Elite Realty & Management, who has also filed new applications to construct two separate multi-family buildings. Each building will stand four stories tall and have eight units, and each unit will average 676 square feet. In one building, the two top-floor units will also feature a fifth-floor penthouse. Boaz Golani’s Bronx-based BMG Design Build is the architect of record.


205 Beach 29th Street

Three-Story, 15-Unit Residential Building Filed At 205 Beach 29th Street, Far Rockaway

Kai Management, doing business as a Brooklyn-based LLC, has filed applications for a three-story, 15-unit residential building at 205 Beach 29th Street, in Far Rockaway, five blocks south of the Beach 25th Street stop on the A train. The building will measure 11,833 square feet in total, which translates into an average unit size of 789 square feet. The parcel of land is vacant, and Genaro Urueta’s Maspeth-based GRU Corporation is the applicant of record.


15 Hudson Yards

Foundation Work Underway At 70-Story, 365-Unit 15 Hudson Yards Tower

Back in July, YIMBY provided you a construction update on 15 Hudson Yards, Related Companies’ 70-story, 960,000 square-foot mixed-use tower planned at Hudson Yards, in Midtown West. Foundation work is now well underway, and rebar as well as the first steel columns can been seen protruding from concrete. The building will include 365 residential units, which will be a mix of rentals and condominiums. The Culture Shed will extend horizontally east from the tower’s base. Diller Scofidio + Renfro and the Rockwell Group are designing, and completion is slated for 2018.
