The steel superstructure of 181 Mercer Street is now several floors above street level in Greenwich Village. The massive, 1.9-million-square-foot expansion of the NYU campus is located along Houston Street, directly to the east of I. M. Pei’s University Village complex. The 23-story project is designed by Davis Brody Bond along with KieranTimberlake.

Cuomo Issues RFI for Port Authority’s Redevelopment of JFK Central Hub

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a call for ideas in the redevelopment of John F. Kennedy International Airport. The invitation for a request for information by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is for the design and development of JFK Central, a roughly 14-acre, mixed-use space within the complex. This is the latest step in Governor Cuomo’s $13-billion plan for the redesign of JFK, which includes two new international terminals with modern passenger amenities, user-friendly ground transportation options, and improved roadway infrastructure to accommodate a projected increase of at least 15 million passengers per year.

Façade Work Resumes at One Seaport, aka 161 Maiden Lane, in the Financial District

Installation of the reflective glass curtain wall of One Seaport, aka 161 Maiden Lane, is finally progressing in the Financial District. The slender, reinforced concrete superstructure stands 60 stories high and is located to the immediate south of the South Street Seaport District. The 200,000-square-foot project is being designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group LLC, with Ray Builders as the current contractor. Groves & Co is serving as the interior designer and Douglas Elliman is handling sales of the units.
