Zand Development LLC has filed permits for a mixed-use high-rise at 29-00 Northern Boulevard, in Long Island City, Queens. The project is on Jackson Avenue, and would add further to the area’s rapidly Manhattanizing skyline. The site is a block away from the Queens Plaza Subway Station, serviced by the E, M, and R station. The Queensboro Plaza Subway Station is five blocks west of the address, and is serviced by the 7, N, and W trains.

It’s no longer just a rendering; the 54-story Eagle Electric Factory’s redevelopment at 43-22 Queens Street almost has its full façade, as construction nears the finish line. YIMBY last reported on the project one year ago, when construction had reached the 18th floor. Now, the tower isn’t far off from releasing its 790 new rental apartments, which average 763 square feet apiece. Rockrose Development is responsible for development.

Plaxall Announces Major Plans to Rezone Long Island City’s Anable Basin Waterfront, Yielding Towers Up to 695′

The Queens waterfront has seen substantive improvements over the past decade, with construction on TF Cornerstone’s East Coast Long Island City complex wrapping in 2014, and additional work on Hunters Point South by both TFC and Related Companies progressing since. But to the north of those projects, the urban fabric along the East River and its tributaries has remained underutilized. That may not be the case for much longer, as plastics company Plaxall has submitted plans to create a new special district along Anable Basin. The proposal would result in skyscrapers up to 695′ in height, yielding new housing, hundreds of light industrial jobs, a multi-level public esplanade, and a new public school.
