Vornado’s Supertall 350 Park Avenue Fully Revealed, Expected To Rise Nearly 1,500′ To Pinnacle

Amidst the ongoing evolution of the Manhattan skyline, one of the most notable recent changes has been the completion of the Midtown East rezoning, which has already resulted in the rise of One Vanderbilt. Now, with 270 Park Avenue and other projects already on the development boards, Vornado and Rudin Management’s plans for 350 Park Avenue have been fully revealed, depicting yet another supertall that would rise almost 1,500 feet to its pinnacle. While the architect has not been confirmed, YIMBY is strongly suspicious that the design is by Foster + Partners, the firm responsible for the nearly-complete 425 Park Avenue.

Commercial developer Marx Realty has returned with the first completed images of its newly branded office tower at 10 Grand Central. The $45 million project entails a redesign and repositioning of the building’s lobby away from its original 44th Street location to provide more immediate access to Grand Central Terminal.

Ceruzzi Properties has officially launched sales at The Centrale, a new 71-story condominium building designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli with executive architects SLCE. Located at 138 East 50th Street, the structure towers 800 feet above Midtown East, Manhattan and contains 124 residential units.

United Arab Emirates Consulate Tops Out at 315 East 46th Street in Midtown East

Construction has topped out at 315 East 46th Street in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. The site was once planned as 25-story condominium tower, but the project was scrapped due to financial issues during the early years of the Great Recession. Now, nearly ten years later, the property is heading toward completion as the nine-story home of the consulate of the United Arab Emirates. The reinforced concrete structure is being designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Fisher Brothers. Plaza Construction is building the 145-foot tall tower and will soon begin to install the curtain wall.

Construction on the Turkevi Center at 821 First Avenue, in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay, is making quick headway. The future 35-story home for the consulate of the Republic of Turkey is located between East 45th Street and East 46th Street. The glass skyscraper will reach 563 feet when it tops out in the coming months. Perkins Eastman is the designer of the mixed-use tower.

The 43-story building offers owners of the 148 units sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River. Solow Building Company is developing the project, with Richard Meier & Partners Architects as the designer.

New Senior Housing Facility at 139 East 56th Street Tops Out in Midtown Manhattan

139 East 56th Street, aka 677-681 Lexington Avenue, recently topped out 17 stories above Midtown. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Hines and Welltower, the new senior-housing facility is called “Sunrise” and is located at the corner of East 56th Street and Lexington Avenue. Facade installation at ground level has also commenced. The two developers previously paid $115 million for the 9,236-square foot site. The tower now stands 218 feet to its rooftop.

Michael Shvo Announces Mandarin Oriental Residences at 685 Fifth Avenue

Following last year’s purchase of 685 Fifth Avenue, developer Michael Shvo has announced a partnership with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to manage a collection of condominiums within the property. A highly anticipated LPC hearing for the renovation and exterior alteration at the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building at 476 Fifth Avenue will take place later today. Earlier this month, the Landmarks Committee of Community Board 5 met to discuss proposed changes to the library that would introduce new outdoor areas.
