33-Story, 179-Unit Mixed-Use Building Tops Out at 520 West 30th Street in Chelsea

A 33-story, 179-unit mixed-use building has reached its peak at 520 West 30th Street. Construction officially topped off on August 18th, according to a spokesperson for the developer, Related Companies. Photos posted to the YIMBY forums by JC_Heights and Tectonic show that structure’s frame is being filled out and installation of the glassy facade appears about halfway complete.

21-Story, 95-Unit Mixed-Use Building Tops Out at 221 West 29th Street, Chelsea

Since it was two stories above street level in early June, the 21-story, 95-unit mixed-use building under construction at 221 West 29th Street, in northern Chelsea, has topped out, as seen in photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The structure measures 105,337 square feet and rises 210 feet above street level, not including the bulkhead. There will be 671 square feet of retail space, big enough for a single store, followed by residential units on the second through 21st floors. The apartments will be rentals, averaging 828 square feet apiece, of which 19 (20 percent of the total) will rent at below-market rates through the affordable housing lottery. CBSK Ironstate — a team comprised of SK Development, CB Developers, and Ironstate Development — is  the developer. Goldstein, Hill & West Architects is behind the architecture. Occupancy is expected in 2017.

Construction Wraps on 14-Story, 37-Unit Supportive Housing Project at 257 West 29th Street, Chelsea

The façade of a new 14-story, 37-unit supportive housing building has been unveiled at 257 West 29th Street, in Chelsea. This comes after YIMBY reported that construction on the project was wrapping up in June. The progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The new building measure 27,455 square feet and its residential units should average 661 square feet apiece. All of the apartments will rent at below-market rates, although it’s still unclear who is expected to occupy them. Supportive housing is typically reserved for the most underprivileged and tenants usually have access to health and social services. Listed amenities include storage for 19 bikes and multi-purpose rooms on the ground and cellar levels. Arker Companies is the developer and Aufgang Architects is behind the architecture. Occupancy can probably be expected later this year.

12-Story, Six-Unit Mixed-Use Building Tops Out at 239 Tenth Avenue, West Chelsea

By the end of June, the 12-story, six-unit mixed-use building under development at 239 Tenth Avenue, on the corner of West 24th Street in West Chelsea, was had been built up to the fourth floor. The project has since topped out, according to a Curbed NY report. The new 54,662-square-foot, 137-foot-tall building, dubbed The Getty, will include 13,437 square feet of commercial space on the cellar through second floors. There will be eight condominium units on the floors above. They should average 4,674 square feet apiece, and three of them will be duplexes. Amenities include private residential storage units and a fitness center. The penthouse apartment will feature a roof terrace. Victor Group and SHVO (headed by Michael Shvo) are the developers, and Peter Marino Architect is designing. Completion is expected in 2017.
