Work Continues on One High Line’s Public Plaza, Retail Space at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Work is progressing on the public plaza and ground-floor retail space at One High Line, a two-tower residential development at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group and Access Industries, the twisting 36- and 26-story structures will span combined 900,000 square feet and yield 236 condominium units in one- to five-bedroom layouts, as well as a hotel component operated by Faena Hotel and ground-floor retail space. The property is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and stands adjacent to the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.

280 Eighth Avenue Begins Vertical Ascent in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction has begun to rise on 280 Eighth Avenue, a 12-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Red Apple Group under the RA 280 Development LLC, the 172-foot-tall structure will span 95,561 square feet and yield 104 rental units with an average scope of 650 square feet, of which 28 as designated as affordable housing, as well as 6,083 square feet of retail space, 511 square feet of community facility space, a cellar level, and a 24-foot-long rear yard. The property is situated at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 24th Street.

50 Ninth Avenue Completes Construction in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction wraps up on 50 Ninth Avenue, a nine-story commercial renovation and expansion at the intersection of Chelsea, the Meatpacking District, and the West Village. Designed by BKSK Architects for Tavros Capital with Fogarty Finger responsible for all interiors and the storefront, the project involved the restoration of a row of landmarked townhomes and the construction of an office structure set back from the street, and yields 57,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of flexible retail space. Broadway Construction Group is the general contractor for the project. The property is alternately addressed as 351-355 West 14th Street and located at the corner of Ninth Avenue and West 14th Street.

Construction has reached the final floor of 335 Eighth Avenue, a seven-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by MAG Partners and Mutual Redevelopment Houses, Inc., the 200,000-square-foot structure will yield 188 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, a 23,000-square-foot Lidl supermarket, and additional ground-floor retail space. Thirty percent of the homes will be reserved for affordable housing. The property is being built by Urban Atelier Group and is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street within the Penn South affordable housing cooperative, officially known as Mutual Redevelopment Houses.

142 West 21st Street Readies For Construction in Chelsea, Manhattan

Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Yiannes Einhorn of Grid Group, who purchased the property from Jadlamm Realty Corp. for $31 million in 2021, the 135-foot-tall structure will span 61,256 square feet and yield 22 condominium units with an average scope of 2,756 square feet, as well as 610 square feet of commercial space, a cellar level, parking spots for 16 vehicles, and a 30-foot-long rear yard. The property is located on an interior lot between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

The property is alternately addressed as 170 West 22nd Street and located at the southeast corner of Seventh Avenue and West 22nd Street.
