Four-Story, Four-Unit Building Rises at 54 Bright Street, Jersey City

We like to keep our eyes open to new developments outside New York City, and one of the fastest-growing places is Jersey City. It could soon overtake Newark as the most populous city in the nation’s most densely-populated state. In January, ground was broken for a 900-foot residential tower at 99 Hudson Street. Now, we have word of a decidedly smaller development – a four-story, four-unit condominium building rising at 54 Bright Street.

A major milestone was recently reached by a 1.8-million-square-foot mixed-use development under construction in downtown Flushing, Queens.

Above-Ground Work Underway on 23-Story Rental Project at 56 Fulton Street, Financial District

When YIMBY last reported on the 23-story, 120-unit mixed-use rental project at 56 Fulton Street, between Cliff and Gold streets in the Financial District, $61.75 million in financing had just been landed. That was back in December of 2014. Today, we can report actual construction progress. A photo sent to us by a reader shows the work being done, and that work has reached the second floor.

Touring The Still Under Construction Condo Conversion At 51 Jay Street, DUMBO

Landmarks Approves Relocation of Tin Building at South Street Seaport

Another piece of the puzzle that is the Howard Hughes Corporation’s plan to revitalize the South Street Seaport is one step closer to fitting into place. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the relocation of the Tin Building.

A 500,000-square-foot office building in the Flatiron District is getting some upgrades. 41 Madison Avenue, located between East 25^th and 26^th streets, was built by Samuel Rudin in 1972 and now the Rudin Management Company is renovating its public spaces, and YIMBY has the first renderings.

When we last checked in on the site of Tribeca Associates’ planned 26-story, 228-key hotel at 143 Fulton Street, between Broadway and Nassau Street in the Financial District, demolition of its three-story occupant was underway. Since then, demolition has been completed and, thanks to a YIMBY reader, we have a new look at the coming hotel.

As we’ve told you in the past, the Landmarks Preservation Commission deals with projects both extremely big and very small. Such was the case last Tuesday, when it approved the expansion of a single-family home at 4520 Waldo Avenue in the Bronx’s Fieldston Historic District.

On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a plan to relocate the entrance to the Paramount Building, an individual landmark at 1501 Broadway in Times Square, from Broadway on to West 43^rd Street.
