Álvaro Siza’s 611 West 56th Street Gets Its First Windows, in Hell’s Kitchen

Installation has begun on the first batch of windows for 611 West 56th Street, aka 823 Eleventh Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. Located at the northwestern corner of West 56th Street and Eleventh Avenue, the 37-story condominium tower is designed by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza and will feature a bright, clean finish of white limestone between the grid of windows. The 450-foot-tall tower is being developed by Sumaida + Khurana and LENY and will contain 80 units.

Happy Living Development has released renderings for a low-rise condominium building at 441 West 37th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between Ninth Avenue and Tenth Avenue, the structure is being designed by EDI International.

Permits Filed for 608 West 48th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a six-story office building at 608 West 48th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue, the lot is three avenues west of the 50 Street subway station, serviced by the C and E trains. Emmut Properties Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Hudson Garden’s Façade Installation Makes Headway at 615 Tenth Avenue, in Hell’s Kitchen

The curtain wall assembly is progressing swiftly at 615 Tenth Avenue, AKA Hudson Garden, a new residential development in Hell’s Kitchen. The last of the large prefabricated panels are being hoisted into place on the topped-out, seven-story superstructure, which spans a full block between West 44th Street and West 45th Street. The 92-unit property is being designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Xin Development International, with Kuafu Properties as the project manager and Leeding Builders Group overseeing construction.

Gene Kaufman-Designed Hotel Tops Out at 305 West 48th Street, in Hell’s Kitchen

The firm Gene Kaufman Architect is responsible for the design of 305 West 48th Street, a new 211-room hotel in Midtown’s Hell’s Kitchen. Located between Eighth and Ninth Avenue, the 27-story skyscraper rises along the fringe of tall skyscrapers between Times Square and the Hudson River, topping out at 303 feet. Glass is being installed on the southern elevation and the reinforced concrete walls will soon be covered in vibrant hues of red and yellow bricks. YIMBY last reported that Bright Management, Inc. is listed as the developer. The Rockwell Group is designing the interiors and amenities.

YIMBY Scopes Views and Interiors From 505 West 43rd Street, aka Charlie West, in Hell’s Kitchen

YIMBY recently went on a site tour of 505 West 43rd Street, aka Charlie West. The pair of 16-story buildings are being designed by ODA Architecture and developed by Mi&Co. The interiors are being designed by Escobar Design by Lemay, while exclusive sales and marketing of the 131 units are being led by Reuveni Real Estate. Homes will range from studios to three-bedrooms along with penthouses that will come with three to four bedrooms. Closings at the Midtown West property are imminently expected.

400 West 57th Street’s Exterior Re-emerges After Decades Behind Scaffolding, in Hell’s Kitchen

The scaffolding that had obscured 400 West 57th Street for years has finally been removed, exposing its ornamental masonry walls and arched windows. Once called the Windermere, the property has had a long and complex history, standing both as an architectural gem for the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen and as a crumbling and almost-abandoned relic. The eight-story structure, which is located at the corner of West 57th Street and Ninth Avenue, suffered decades of neglect, deterioration, and attracted a large number of homeless squatters in the past. The façade was covered up with blue scaffolding and netting, and the building’s fate was unknown for some time after the disappearance of its owners, who reportedly left the country for Japan. The redevelopment was an arduous process, due to political drama and the task of getting the handful of remaining tenants to vacate the structure.

Two Affordable Housing Projects Revealed in Hell’s Kitchen, at 705 Tenth Avenue and 806 Ninth Avenue

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development has announced the construction of two affordable housing projects in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Together, the 100% affordable housing developments will create more than 250 homes for low-income families and the formerly homeless.

Located between Ninth and Tenth Avenues, the interior development site is directly across from the Clinton Community Garden. Hell’s Kitchen Park is steps away, on the corner of 9th Avenue and West 48th Street. Nearby transit access is provided courtesy of the 50th Street subway station and the C and E trains, at 8th Avenue. Permits Pre-Filed for 443 West 54th Street, Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Permits have been pre-filed for a new seven-story residential building at 443 West 54th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Manwei You will be responsible for the development. According to reports from The Real Deal dated from May of 2017, Manwei purchased the development for $23 million, and publicized a teaser design for the curtain wall building. While the image quality is low, it is still informative for how the scheme will fit in with surrounding neighbors.
