Residential Conversion Approved For Six-Story 555 West End Avenue, Upper West Side

In May, YIMBY brought you news of a residential conversion at 555 West End Avenue, on the Upper West Side, which, at the time, was denied the green light at its LPC presentation. Curbed now has news of the project’s approval, which received minor revisions. Cary Tamarkin is developing and designing the conversion of the six-story building, which will eventually be expanded by one floor to have 12 to 15 units.

Seven-Story, 36-Unit Residential Building Filed At 306 West 142nd Street, Harlem

Heritage Real Estate Partners has filed applications for a seven-story, 36-unit mixed-use building at the vacant plot of land at 306 West 142nd Street, in northern Harlem. The building will measure 39,207 gross square feet, and 2,036 square feet on the ground floor will be used for a community business facility. Each residential unit will average about 1,000 square feet, which could yield rentals or condos, and Montroy Andersen DeMarco is designing.

Tishman Speyer is in the process of acquiring the development site at 550 West 37th Street — on 11th Avenue, between West 36th and 37th streets — in the Hudson Yards district, for $185 million. Dubbed “The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards”, the seven-story, 1 million square-foot retail base being built between 10 and 30 Hudson Yards will feature 100 different establishments, and is scheduled to open in 2018.

In October 2014, a 10-story, eight-unit mixed-use building was rising at 179 Suffolk Street, at East Houston Street on the Lower East Side. Bowery Boogie reports the nearly 14,500 square-foot structure topped out last Spring, and now façade installation is nearly complete. The first two levels will be occupied by a religious facility, and opening is likely within the coming months. Defonseca Architects is the architect of record.
