Property owner Shahram Nassi has filed applications for two five-story, three-unit residential buildings at the vacant lots of 5-18 – 5-20 51st Avenue, in Hunts Point, Long Island City. The buildings will measure nearly 5,000 square feet, which means units will probably be condos, averaging 1,665 square feet. One duplex unit will share the first floor with the lobby and then take up the entire second floor. Another will occupy the third floor, and the last duplex will span the fourth and fifth floors. Back in 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of Heatherwood Communities’ planned 58-story, 477-unit residential tower at 42-12 28th Street, in Long Island City, at the same time excavation was starting. Now, the project is up to its tenth floor, according to The Court Square Blog. Glass installation has also started, and completion of the tower, dubbed 28 On 28th, is expected in 2017. Goldstein Hill & West is the architect, and $154 million in financing was provided by PNC Bank in May.
