An LLC has filed applications for a five-story, 42-unit mixed-use building measuring a total of 29,530 square feet spanning the lots 37-02 – 37-10 34th Street, in northern Long Island City. JLS Designs is designing, and a commercial retail component will amount to nearly 1,000 square feet. An existing two-story building must first be demolished.
The 16-story, 183-room Hilton Garden Inn — located at 29-21 Queens Plaza North, in Long Island City — has opened for business, reports Brownstoner. Construction has been ongoing since 2013, and the building is Long Island City’s 25th hotel.
The Court Square Blog has spotted on-site renderings at 27-07 43rd Avenue, in Long Island City, where a nine-story, 108-room hotel building is planned. The project has been revised since YIMBY revealed plans in 2014. Foundational work is currently underway, and completion is slated for Spring 2016.
Despite the construction boom that includes roughly a dozen towers of fifty floors or more, Long Island City is still relatively lacking in name-brand hotel projects. That is about to change in a big way, and YIMBY can now reveal the first renderings of the new Dream Hotel coming to 9-03 44th Road, just a block in from the East River waterfront. The project’s permit filings appeared this past December.
