FXFOWLE-Designed School Revealed at 1-35 57th Avenue, Hunter’s Point South, Queens

Permits have been filed for a four-story, 612-seat public elementary school at 1-35 57^th Avenue, in Queens. The project comes as part of the redevelopment of the formerly-derelict Hunter’s Point South neighborhood, along the East River. The area has been activated over the last decade thanks to several residential towers and the HPS Park, alongside a new ferry terminal, which is just a four blocks away from the proposed school. The Vernon Boulevard Subway Station is also eleven blocks away, serviced by the 7 train. The New York City School Construction Authority will be responsible for the development.

New York YIMBY’s 2018 Construction Report: New Building Applications Finally Stabilize After Two Years of Massive Drops

Last year, YIMBY’s pipeline report showed a dramatic decrease in new building filings, with 2015’s multi-family count of 32,702 units falling precipitously, to 19,356 in 2016. Fortunately, the hemorrhaging of pipeline additions has nearly come to a complete stop, and 2017 saw filings for 19,180 multi-family units, a drop of under one percent. Permits Filed For Mixed-Use Tower at 29-00 Northern Boulevard, Long Island City

Zand Development LLC has filed permits for a mixed-use high-rise at 29-00 Northern Boulevard, in Long Island City, Queens. The project is on Jackson Avenue, and would add further to the area’s rapidly Manhattanizing skyline. The site is a block away from the Queens Plaza Subway Station, serviced by the E, M, and R station. The Queensboro Plaza Subway Station is five blocks west of the address, and is serviced by the 7, N, and W trains.

Permits Filed for 39-25 27th Street, Long Island City, Queens

Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 39-25 27th Street in Long Island City, Queens. The site is a dozen blocks from the East River waterfront, and five blocks away from 39th Avenue subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Astoria-based Anthony Cucich will be responsible for the development and design.

Renderings Revealed for Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City, Queens

Renderings by DHD Architecture and Interior Design have revealed their proposed six-story rooftop addition to a five-story building at 37-06 36^th Street, in Long Island City, Queens. The images depict a slick metal façade, matching the painted black of the bricks on the lower floors, while contrasting with the white-red design of the existing structure.

TF Cornerstone’s Hunters Point South Skyscrapers Get Height Boost After Redesign

TF Cornerstone’s new Hunters Point South Towers are finally getting ready to rise. The developer acquired the site back in 2013, and there have been major alterations to initial plans, including a substantial height increase for the two towers, designed by ODA Architecture.

Permits Filed for 40-11 28th Street, New School Coming to Long Island City

A parking lot in Long Island City, Queens, is about to see a lot more foot traffic. The cars will be replaced by children at 40-11 28th Street, where a new public school is going to be built, right next to the existing Newcomers High School. The developer and architect will be the NYC School Construction Authority.

Excavation Underway at 22-12 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City

Back in February of 2016, YIMBY reported on new building applications for 22-12 Jackson Avenue, in Long Island City. The lot’s former occupant has since been demolished, and now excavators are beginning to dig away at the site, which will imminently host an 11-story and 175-unit condominium development, designed by ODA New York.

The 39,579-square-foot hotel at 37-11 23rd Street is on track to join northern Long Island City’s mushrooming crop of lodgings. Construction permits categorize the 93-unit property as a “transient hotel,” a term generally used to describe shelters. The 11-story building towers over the industrial northwest corner of Long Island City.
