The New School has signed a lease to extend its occupancy at Westbeth Artists Housing, an artists’ housing complex at 151 Bank Street in Manhattan’s West Village. The lease is for 20,000 square feet across three floors over the next ten years, a continuation of the organization’s tenure in the building, which began in 2003.
Permits have been filed for a partial demolition of an existing four-story public parking garage and conversion and enlargement into a five-story building at 738 Greenwich Street in Manhattan’s West Village. Located between Perry Street and West 11th Street, the lot is closest to the Christopher Street-Stonewall subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Donnchadh Malone of Alf Naman Development is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Construction is about to go vertical at 80 Clarkson Street, an upcoming 29- and 36-story residential complex along the Hudson River waterfront in Manhattan’s West Village. Designed by COOKFOX Architects with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Zeckendorf Development, Atlas Capital Group, and The Baupost Group, the 400- and 450-foot tall buildings will yield around 650,000 square feet of space with 100 condominium units, nearly 37,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, and enclosed parking for 69 vehicles. ACI VI Clarkson LLC is the owner and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor of the 1.3-acre, $1.25 billion development, which is bound by Clarkson Street to the north, West Houston Street to the south, West Street to the west, and a shorter and separate 19-story structure at 570 Washington Street rising on the same city block along Washington Street to the east. The sales team for 80 Clarkson Street will be led by Dan Tubb and Amy Williamson.
Construction is finishing up on 111 Charles Street, a seven-story residential building in Manhattan’s West Village. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects who received LPC approval for the facade design and built by BKSK Architects who also did the interiors, the 63-foot-tall structure spans 48,535 square feet and yields 19 rental units, as well as 6,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and cellar levels. Titanium Construction Services was the general contractor, and Belden Tri-State Building Materials was the brick supplier for the project, which is alternately addressed as 540 Hudson Street and located at the corner of Hudson and Charles Streets.
