601 West 29th Street’s Glass Façade Begins Installation in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Curtain wall installation has begun on 601 West 29th Street, a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper on the border of Hudson Yards and West Chelsea. Designed by FXCollaborative, developed by Douglaston Development, and constructed by Levine Builders, the 60-story structure is also known as “Tower A” in a two-building development along with the adjacent 606 West 30th Street, and will yield 703 market-rate and 235 affordable housing residences, 50,000 square feet of amenity space, and 15,000 square feet of retail space. The project site is bound by Eleventh Avenue to the east, West 29th Street to the south, and West 30th Street to the north.

Façade installation is progressing on Foster + Partners‘ 50 Hudson Yards, a 1,011-foot commercial supertall in Hudson Yards. Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, the 58-story office skyscraper is the final structure in the first phase of Hudson Yards and is to be the largest structure by volume, yielding 2.9 million square feet. The site is bound by West 34th Street to the north, Tenth Avenue to the east, West 33rd Street to the south, and Hudson Boulevard to the west.

Construction has topped out on 555 West 38th Street, a 570-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Developed by Rockrose and designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects with SLCE as the architect of record, the 52-story structure will add 598 rental units to this growing section of Midtown. The site is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 38th Street and West 39th Street, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

The Spiral’s Glass Curtain Wall Continues Ascent at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Exterior work is progressing on The Spiral, a 66-story, 1,041-foot-tall commercial supertall at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the structure occupies a full block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets and is poised to yield a whopping 2.85 million square feet of office space. Turner Construction Company is serving as the construction manager, Banker Steel is in charge of manufacturing the steel, and Permasteelisa is the contractor for the glass enclosure for the project, which is expected to cost $3.7 billion.

601 West 29th Street Tops Out, Will Bring 200+ Affordable Housing Units to Hudson Yards, Manhattan

This week Douglaston Development announced the topping out of 601 West 29th Street, a mixed-use residential tower that will bring 703 market-rate and 235 affordable housing residences to West Chelsea. The 60-story skyscraper encompasses an entire block on 11th Avenue from West 29th to West 30th Streets on the border of West Chelsea and Hudson Yards. In addition to the 938 rentals, components include over 50,000 square feet of amenity space and 15,000 square feet of retail space. FXCollaborative is responsible for the design of the 695-foot-tall building, with Levine Builders handling construction.
