Checking in on Tishman Speyer’s 99 Hudson Boulevard Office Tower in Hudson Yards

YIMBY visited the site of 99 Hudson Boulevard, a proposed 44-story office tower in Hudson Yards. Few details have been revealed for the 1.3-million-square-foot project since developer Tishman Speyer released renderings last April. Henning Larsen Architects is behind the design, which features a distinctive massing of stacked glass boxes separated by recessed and protruding terraces. The plan calls for floor plates ranging from 50,000 square feet in the base to 22,400 square feet in the main bulk of the edifice.

Jacob K. Javits Center’s $1.5B Expansion Progresses in Hudson Yards

Progress is continuing on the 180-foot-tall northern wing of the Jacob K. Javits Center in Midtown West. Designed by TVSdesign and developed by Empire State Development Corporation, the $1.5 billion, 1.2-million-square-foot addition will raise the facility’s total span to 3.3 million square feet. Lendlease and Turner Construction Company are working together to assemble the Hudson Yards project while the developer is aiming for LEED certification.

The Spiral at 66 Hudson Boulevard Nearly One-Third of The Way Up in Hudson Yards

Construction on Bjarke Ingels Group‘s 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, is around one-third of its full architectural height. The massive $3.7 billion Hudson Yards supertall is being built directly across the street to the north of Foster + Partners‘ 50 Hudson Yards, which has been rising neck and neck with BIG’s 66-story design throughout most of 2020. Tishman Speyer is the developer, Turner Construction Company is the construction manager, and Banker Steel is in charge of manufacturing the steel for the 1,031-foot-tall skyscraper.

555 West 38th Street’s Reinforced Concrete Superstructure Begins Ascent In Hudson Yards

Construction is now one floor above street level at 555 West 38th Street, a 570-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose with SLCE as the architect of record, the 52-story tower will yield 598 rental units and is located directly across Eleventh Avenue from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Handel Architects’ 451 Tenth Avenue Makes Swift Excavation Progress In Hudson Yards

Excavation is getting deeper at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards, site of a 580-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper from Handel Architects. Bryan Cho of Related Companies filed permits in early June 2019 for the 44-story building, which will rise directly to the north of 66 Hudson BoulevardBjarke Ingels‘ supertall known as The Spiral. A great deal of earth has been excavated from the lot, a former parking lot located between West 35th and 36th Streets and Tenth Avenue and Hudson Boulevard. Spitzer Enterprises is co-developing alongside Related.
