Pilings Underway for 695-Foot-Tall Skyscraper at 601 West 29th Street in Hudson Yards

Work has begun on the pilings for 601 West 29th Street, a 695-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards. Progress on the project, which is located at the corner of West 29th Street and Eleventh Avenue, has been swift since the lot was cleared and excavated over the summer. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Douglaston Development, the 58-story building is also known as Tower A in a two-building development on the parcel.

Excavation Progressing Quickly for Pelli Clarke Pelli’s 555 West 38th Street in Hudson Yards

Excavation has progressed significantly at 555 West 38th Street since YIMBY last checked in on the Hudson Yards site in late August. Construction workers have ripped up all of the asphalt from the parking lot that formerly occupied the property and have unearthed a substantial amount of dirt. The plot will eventually give rise to a 52-story residential skyscraper designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose. Located directly across Eleventh Avenue from the Jacob K. Javits Center, the 570-foot-tall tower will contain 598 rental units. SLCE is the architect of record.

Jacob K. Javits Center’s Massive Expansion Continues in Hudson Yards

Work on the expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Center continues to progress in Hudson Yards. The massive expanse of steelwork is in place and offers a sense of the scale of the 1.2-million-square-foot addition. Tvsdesign is the designer and Empire State Development Corporation is the developer of the new northern wing, which is expected to cost $1.5 billion. Once completed, the project will bring the convention center’s combined square footage to 3.3 million and add an extra 22,000 square feet to the largest green roof in New York City. The construction and design build is being overseen by Lendlease in a joint venture with Turner Construction Company.
